Ask Angie et al: Bella Vita Gold Cross Hatch Pumps

Good Day YLF!

I find myself in need of some advice from you lovely ladies. I ended up having to attend a small event at my husbands office yesterday on short notice and I felt it required a bit more corporate look than my usual casual to smart casual lifestyle and felt heels were most appropriate, of which I own no pumps but a 3 pair of kitten heel sandals that are at least 7 years old. I popped on the best of the bunch... but to be prepared for the future I think I need to consider buying a pair (two?) of pumps.

Can I wear these Angie pick Bella Vita pumps in gold for both day events dressed similar to shown, and evening/weddings? I'm sure basic black pumps would be well... basic for day winter, but then I need bone/white for day warm weather... and I'd rather keep it simple (just one pair if possible) since heels are a 1 or 2 times a year wear for me.

On sizing I run 9M to a hair wide and I was thinking it order the 9 C/D as they are pointy toes unless you have other size/color advice. Also, I presume from the description they are a gold leather and not a gold fabric but if you have seen in person and can confirm it would be very appreciated. Thanks so much!

ETA: I guess I am asking in a long rambling way is gold too fancy/dressy looking to wear for daytime in a conservative setting, keeping in mind I am not the employee but trying to "make a good impression" ...

If black is one of your basic colours, I think that you should invest in a pair of pumps in black. You will have them for years and I think they would be a good basic for your wardrobe. I like the gold ones too, and as you say they would be nice for lighter outfits. You wouldn't necessarily need to buy a gold pump - perhaps a strappy sandal would be more to your liking.

They are very reasonably priced. The golf would really only work for dressy in the winter, I think. But you could always order two pair! Or simply get a dressy pair of dark booties in the winter and the gold for summer?

Sara, I just bought the gold hash because I LOVE my white pumps. I wore them for an afternoon shop with a client with white BF jeans gold belt and cream/black slouchy blouse last week and had happy feet!

Sooooo, to answer your question, totally fab to wear during the day or night - dressed up or down, year round. I am wearing mine with dressy pencil skirts and frocks, as well as faded denim cut offs.

Missvee, I do agree black pumps would be a worthwhile purchase... I have bought and purged a number of pairs b/c I struggle to find a low heeled black one that doesnt look frumpy... or at least i struggled before I had all you fab ladies on YLF to help me

Suz, I know huh? I was really excited to find a leather shoe listed for less than $100. I only am hesitant b/c this might borderline on shopping for my imaginary life and gold is sold out at zappos and no free returns at amazon for my particular size so I'd like to be fairly certain it worked first IFKWIM. Booties.... I do love how Shannon does the booties in the winter, flat ones are on my fall list. I like the idea of heeled ones...

In the outfit you have here I think you need black or white shoes. Gold pumps work for day with the right outfit, though!

Booties in winter - no brainer! Heeled ones for dressing up. I wear nothing but booties all fall and winter here in Seattle.

I think your outfit that's shown would work with the gold pumps if you could repeat the gold somewhere else -- gold necklace (not a dainty chain!) instead of white, or gold clutch instead of the white/black, scrunch sleeves and add some gold bangles. I just picture needing visible gold to make the gold shoes look intentional.

I have gold flats and wear them all summer with denim and all year 'round with dresses/skirts (flats aren't my most flattering shoes, but my feet stay happy). I often wear a soft gold 2" belt when I wear the flats with BF jeans, and a gold watch. That's my version of repeating the gold.

Thanks ladies! I've just been the the store and bought a pair of Nine West black patent (fake leather) pumps. I am not sure I am keeping as I am typically not pleased with the performance of synthetic footwear them but as they were the last pair in my size...

Jenava, I think I agree with you and missvee that I needed the black pumps as a basic.

MNSara, I have a gold belt and a gold watch although the belt wouldnt work here (too casual). I suppose I need to consider which outfits I would wear for the gold shoe too make sense perhaps gold flats are a better idea. I am just really taken with this particular pair. I dont often find matellics I love so much but the subtle texture here really draws me in.

Just saw my size at zappos (must have missed it before by not selecting width) and ordered in black patent and gold (last pair it said at check out!). heres hoping they will work...

and... i cant believe i am saying this but i really liked how the black patent ones I tried tonight looked with my jeans rolled at when i was trying them on.... my feet might not like me too much for a pointy toed heel development but i bet they will be coming out for date nights.

Like you, I wear a M to a hair wide and I have the Bella Vita Pumps in sable and C/D width. These are easily the most comfortable heels I own. I'm so glad I bought these and I ordered the gold hash also. Like someone said here, just repeat the gold elsewhere in your outfit.

I'm all over pretty pumps with BF jeans - this year and last. So high five Sarah! Glad you found your size in the gold :). Aida just bought them too.

Ruthe, thanks for chiming in with additional validation. The Bella Vitas are indeed WOW pumps that live up to their name. So comfy! I can do an 8 hour shop in them (and I walk very fast) no problem - which leaves my Stuart Weitzman and Kate Spade pumps in the dust.

Oh! Shoe triplets... how fun!

Sarah, I think gold pumps would look fab day or night! And I like the outfit you wore to your husband's event, it makes a very good impression.

I am curious to see how they fit. I too have wide feet, but very narrow heels, so I will check your future posts to see how they work out.
