This is a good question, and I don't know. I can tell you that my favorite Citizens Huttons are a lightweight denim that I've heard called "Japanese denim." I can wear these in 70 degree weather, and not be too hot. I have also worn them in 40 degree weather and been just fine. Haven't tried them in weather below that though!
I like the lightweight denim because being as short as I am, I think it adds less bulk. Also, lighter material means things like waistbands are going to have a bit more give and be gentler if they don't. If that makes sense. I don't know.. this is hard to explain... try this: these jeans are as comfy and allow as much movement and even sort of drape (where they aren't form-fitting) , as any pair of three-season wool dress pants would.
Meanwhile, my Citizens Amber are a little heavier - more what I'm used to when I think of jeans. But not as heavy as the Gap jeans or Levi's or Ann Taylor or Banana Republic... i.e., any other brand I've ever tried. And they do not stretch. I only dried them twice in the dryer - before I had them hemmed. Ever since, I wash only every 5 wears, and then hang dry. And they hold their shape perfectly.
Both jeans feel really nice against my skin. It sounds so weird... but this was a big surprise to me, that denim could feel so good. I spurned jeans for a long long time not just because of fit and stretching out and shrinking and all that other stuff... but also because I simply didn't find them comfortable against my skin! I could never understand why people would come home from work and want to put on jeans!! YUCK!

Maybe poke around the Citizens web site? Or similar premium brand jeans? Or email the custom jeans mfr and ask for something comparable?
