Even though I've been on a mission to buy statement jewellery it just does not make me happy and the pieces languish in my closet. I adore small delicate pieces.
In the winter I can just wear the small delicate necklaces underneath my
turtlenecks and wear a more statement piece where it shows. This is not ideal but somewhat of a compromise.
What does one do in the other seasons or is there a plan of how I can wear these and not look frumpy and old fashioned?

Dainty jewellry is making a fashionable comeback actually. That's quite fun. I like dainty jewelry too - although I don't wear jewellry at all.

I like the look of dainty jewellry against skin. That looks more updated and modern. Especially with current and on trend clothing. Layering dainty necklaces over turtlenecks does look frumpy to my eye. Perhaps you can throw in the occasional V-veck to showcase your necklaces? Or stick to wearing the earrings in Winter?

In pic five the highest necklace would be worn under the turtleneck and the lower necklace, which I consider statement, would be on top. Is this the okay compromise I thought it was?

To Angie's point, I wear my dainty necklaces over bare skin. But I don't wear high necklines at all, even in winter (that's what scarves are for).

Thank you Diana. I've tried the lower neck thing and scarves and still freeze. At one occassion my twenty something year old niece came up to me and told me to go get my bag of warm clothes and change. I had that surprised look on my face and she added, goosebumps are not pretty nor is a shivering lady. We all appreciate that you try so hard but please go and put on warm clothes...

Both pieces are dainty actually, Freckles - although the one daintier than the other. I don't think the compromise works all that well. Still a dash frumpy.

Thank you again. I do fear perhaps my interpretation of statement is not correct... That trinity knot on the leather cord is majorly statement to my eye. Is it the size or something else in the design?

I think of statement jewelry as being not just eye-catching but also much larger than the photos you have here. All the pieces you show look dainty to me. I like dainty jewelry in the summer against the skin. They don't show up in outfit photos very well, but look good IRL (at least to me).

Thank you Sara. I guess my version of large really isn't... Perhaps it has something to do that the style of the bottom necklace is also more masculine than feminine.

Could you put a few of your smaller charms on a single, somewhat longer chain? Kind of create charm necklace?

Freckles, the leather chord still reads dainty, although the pendant is chunkier.

Freckles, do you know what it was about the larger pieces that you did not like? I'm wondering what would happen if you found a larger necklace that had a lot of small, intricate detailing. That would give you a large overall shape, but you would still have the dainty details that you like.

MRL maybe you can also help me figure it out although DC is a heck of a lot warmer than here.
Torontogirl I will try that charm idea again. In the past there was something untidy about it to my eye.
Thank you yet again Angie. Wow, I would never have read the leather cord as being dainty. That is a real eye opener. Will see what I can come up with. This piece was pretty extreme in the statement category to me.
Gigi I've attached pics of pieces I thought were my statement pieces. I guess it is the masculine aspect of them that I don't care for. I really still love number 10 but on a scale only prefer to wear it every so often rather than a lot. For the paua I only ever wear the dull side as I find the other side too bright and garish for me. So not 6 and 9. I do like number two but the chain is too long and there is something wrong with how it is put together as the wrong side always shows front and centre. Most of the hasps on these are small so they would not allow much larger chains or ropes or whatever on them.

Please disregard the tarnishing as I have let them tarnish. The pics I took when polished were very blurry due to the bright silver. Except the horse of course, he hasn't been worn in about two months so not polished...

The one piece of statement I like well enough to wear bi-weekly (pic 12) is too fiddily. The heavy chain part moves down and the whole thing goes all wacky in no time at all.

Freckles, from what I can see, the pieces you like best (2, 10, 12) all are metal, with delicate, intricate detailing. The other pieces are generally not metal, and they have a more "shapeless" feel to them. I agree that many of the pieces here have a heavy, masculine feel. Numbers 2 and 12 seem the most feminine to me. Maybe you could keep your eye open for larger pieces that are all metal, have intricate details, and have a feminine feel to them? Maybe then you would find something that you like.

Thank you very much Gigi, your help is greatly appreciated. I totally didn't put together any of this let alone that I do love things that are all or mostly silver (well white gold actually but never find what I like in that).
My search criteria is getting refined so I don't waste any more money.
