Angie, do you think that you would be able to tell me whether you think this coat - http://www.asos.com/Hilfiger-D.....DonegalRed

would suit my hourglass shape. I really love all of the tartin coats that have been available this winter in London (makes a change from basic black) and in particular like this one as it is quite subtle. I am not sure about the large pockets. Would they draw attention to my hips?

Fiona, that's a very arty and fun coat. Did you view the coat in motion on the model on the site? (press view catwalk). I love that you can do that on asos. You'll get a sense of how voluminous the style is.

As you know, I adore volume, but this coat will not be tailored and slimming because of the shape and check. How do you feel about that?

I love the catwalk view on ASOS too, more and more online shops in the UK are starting to have a similar view.

One of the things that draws me to a garment is movement. I love how a skirt floats as you move downstairs for example. My current black coat is pretty voluminous and I don't mind it, but I would prefer a more tailored black coat and something more fun in a pattern. It would also encourage me to wear slimmer trousers I think.

Thanks Angie. ASOS often have a couple of hours on a Friday when they have free postage, so I might see if they have that offer this week and get the coat. On the other hand, I am meant to be spending money this week on a dress for my sister's wedding in April, but that search is going terribly so this is a welcome distraction!

I actually ordered a dress yesterday from Phase Eight - http://www.phase-eight.co.uk/f.....lour=black
so we will see how it goes - when I get it I will post pics. I have another dress that I bought a couple of years ago from Jigsaw that I would like to wear - with a tuxedo jacket if I can find one. I want to be the hip, cool sister of the bride, who isn't showing up her younger sister (although there isn't much chance of that, my sister is stunning), but doesn't look dowdy either....
