Laura, I'm pretty sure "cigarette" refers only to ankle-length pants, and not the type that has to be PPL. (Think Audrey Hepburn.) Once they start to scrunch they're just plain old skinnies

I vote ankle as well. The scrunch reminds me of a cigarette that's been stomped out already!

The picture Julie linked to is perfect, Laura. I have a pair of pants just like that. Love them! Great with tunic blouses for business casual with either dressy flats or heels.

I like a bit of scrunch - not a lot but just a bit. Adds voluminous textural interest to the look.

I was just answering Laura's question about what defines a cigarette pant. As I learned in fashion school and the industry, a cigarette pant is one with a slim silhouette which ends at the ankle bone. I have a pair of skinny, non-jean black trousers with a little scrunch at the bottom, but I wouldn't call them cigarettes- just skinnies.

Maybe that didn't need to be said, but I didn't want you to think I was guilty of crimes against fashion!

I have the same coupon; they were giving it out at the store a couple of weekends ago, Maya; one for each Wednesday for a month. I am intrigued by the BR pants and I would like to see how this style looks on me; I think I will be stopping by our local BR on Wednesday night! Thanks for the idea.

Angie they are a very thin cotton...def. not denim! They are similar to my H+M pants, but shorter and not as stretchy, so they don't get as much wear. Unfortunately the black has also faded a little with wear

Even more unfortunately those pics were taken when we were moving into our place last year....too many memories!!

Thanks so much for this post. I have been pondering the cigarette/skinny pants but I couldn't decipher what length would be best. This really helps! I think I will be purchasing a pair in my regular inseam length.
