Ask Angie: Can this top be worn with trousers?

I have just saved this top to my cart for the next 30 days (don't you just love that feature) but I'm unable to decide if this top, where the back is longer than the front, is suitable for skirts, trousers or both.

Can you help?

Not Angie but that looks like a skirt-length top to me, Julie. I think it's probably the length at the front of a top that dictates what it can be worn with, regardless of what's going on in the back. I also have a top with a slightly asymmetric hemline and it kind of flummoxes me- I love it but it gets very little wear!

That said, I think this would look great with a pencil skirt on you.

Thanks Ele, I'm also curious about if this type of top would work with tapered trousers with pleating at the waist? It seems a shame to cover up all of the detail of this type of trouser.

I know I could make the top work with my skirts.

It seems to work well on the model if you view catwalk, Julie. She's wearing tapered pants - which works well with a voluminous top. The pleats aren't for everyone, but I think they work on the model. As Ele suggests, I'd probably prefer this top on a tapered grey pencil skirt. That would look fab on willowy you.
