Hi Angie,

I just started reading your blog this year. I really respect what you have to say: you are able to quantify how to look good and still leave plenty of room for self expression.

I would like your help on figuring out what body type I am. I think I am first a pear and second a rectangle. Pear because I have small breasts but big butt and thighs. Rectangle because I am flat on top and have no waist. I have pictures but I'm not sure how to attach pictures to this text box.

I am 5'3". The length from my collar bone to my belly button is 14 inches. The length from my belly button to the floor is 38 inches. Does this mean I am short waisted and long legged? I have a friend who is also 5'3" but my hips are higher than hers. I also have a friend who is 5'11" but my hips are the same level as his.

I have flab but I'm not fat. Size 1 jeans from Gap are loose on me. The smallest mass produced bra 32A is too big for me. I am going to try The Little Bra Company when I get a chance.

I am 27 but look and dress like I am in college. I am your typical Asian girl. My entire wardrobe pretty much consists of pea coats, tee shirts, jeans, sneakers, and uggs. I would like to wear more dresses this year.

However, I am not sure what shape would flatter my body type. Empire lines seem to make my breasts look smaller and my butt bigger, like a triangle. So maybe something fitted until the waist and then flares out? Should I go with solids or prints? Color blocks will probably make me look short? Should I wear thick belts or skinny belts or no belts? Should I wear boots or oxfords?

Also, could you recommend some places to buy warm tights? I am always cold, hence the pea coats and uggs, even though I live in SF.

Sorry for such a long query. Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,
Xin
