Ask Angie: AT Tops

The Ann Taylor wrap top in today's blog post caught my eye. As I looked on the AT site, I noticed this sweater:

Oddly enough, I don't care for the cobalt, but love the red and teal.

All the rules of figure flattery indicate that I'd do best in a v-neck. The 3/4 length sleeves add more structure and suit my "run warm" temp gauge. Still, the top from the blogpost strikes me as a little more modern and unusual:

I'll wait to try until AT launches a sale, but which would yout suggest for me, thinking about:
1. Figure flattery and color choices
2. Fit with my style
3. Versatility (dress up/ down, layering, etc)

Not Angie -- but I agree with both your assessments. (That is, which one would flatter you more -- and that is a lovely top, by the way -- and which looks the most unusual).

BUT...you never know until you try it on, right? So why not give them both a bash in a store if you can get to one? Or simply order and return as necessary.

I'm not Angie either, but I think both tops are very lovely. I think you should try them both if you're close by to a store. Are you on their mailing list? AT is good about sending out sale announcements.

Oddly enough, both of these tops are sold online only, although I could always return to the store. My first thought was, in the Angie pick, I'd go for the blue, but the green is lovely too, and goes nicely with my greys. Not sure if the green and black would be too "shades of the black + bright nineties.

I am on team "try on everything at least 4 times in three sizes," so trying both might be right up my alley.

I agree with your assessments.

The wrap sweater is a no-brainer with your skirts, Beth Ann. We haven't seen that silhouette in stores for 5 years, and it's such a goodie on a curvy bod. Utterly delicious. But you'll never know until you try a new style, so I'm high fiving Kristen, Suz and Diane. I vote green in the top I featured in the post today.

To me the front-tying one is way too much going on for apple-y me, but I don't believe that's your figure type. I would be fascinated to see that one on.
