Hi Angie! I think I've seen you mentioned that you sometimes go to London, and I was just wondering whether you have any such trips planned in the near future? My birthday is coming up, and I'm thinking of making a wish for "(some financial support for) a shopping day with Angie"...

Greg and I do travel to London fairly frequently and at the moment our London trip is planned for October this year. We will also be traveling to Europe in March but London is not on that agenda.

I'll let you mull things over for a while.

I hope to meet all the forum YLF'ers who currently live in Britain when we visit this year: Karin, Fi, Julie, Louise, Ele, and Dawn. Have I missed anyone out? Wouldn't that be grand.

I'll keep you posted on the dates as soon as we've booked. Our timing depends on a few things that we need decisions on first, but it's all in the pipeline.

Fiona, I actually haven't been to the Tea Palace in NH. I LOVE HighTea at the Claridges Hotel. Best apple scones I've ever had in my life. And I like to dress up for High Tea too :0)

Angie, do Claridges offer plain scones as well? I firmly believe that fruit has NO place in a teatime scone- I only eat plain with my tea, the better to taste the jam and clotted cream on! Of course, I can always pick them out if you promise not to be embarrassed of me

I can't remember, Ele. I think they change up the menu twice a year. I usually prefer my scones plain too, but these were KILLER - and I don't compliment food quickly.

I'm with you Ele. I like my scones plain or sweetened at the very most, but without any stuff in them. Definitely no fruit or chocolate chips (the latter of which I have a feeling is a very American thing to do). We can pick at our scones together next time you're in NY!

I don't mind a fruity scone for breakfast (one of my favourite recipes has dried cranberries in it), but at teatime I think it's just strange. I trust Angie though, so I'll go with an open mind. (I do judge scones quite harshly though, as I make pretty awesome ones myself.)
