Ask Angie (and YLF): Anniversary Bands metals

Ten year Anniversary this year and I'm preshopping for an anniversary band. My engagement ring is similar to this:

And wedding band is simple platinum band.
I normally just wear them all the time and disregard matching my metals with watch on same arm. I'm curious if now I should be looking for
1. more platinum to wear as set (1)
2.mixed yellow gold/platinum to try to blend with my other watches (2, 3 or other styel) or
3. Yellow gold to wear alone when wearing yellow gold watch (4)
Also curious as to channel set, or not, mixed diamond shapes (round and baguette - 5) or ???.
Looking for inspirations and suggestions.

Good question. I got a second ring for 10 year anniversary to match my wedding band and wear one over and one under the diamond.

However, I can see that getting a different metal would be a good idea too.

Hmmm...this is such a personal decision.

For me, my engagement ring is platinum with yellow gold accents. But i dont wear it any more. My wedding ring is a platinum eternity ring from paul morelli, prong set with very small diamonds. I would want one exactly as my wedding ring but morelli doesn't make them any more. So i'm out of luck...plus my husband believes that new ring requires a new husband!

Would you wear your engagement ring and wedding band and anniversary band? If so i would go with 1,4,5,6 or the bailey banks and biddle. If you would wear only the anniversary band, then i would choose something with more presence like 2,3.

The bailey banks biddle one is so you. How about diamonds all the way around? Love the milgrain detail.

I am a big fan of a wedding set/anniversary band matching each other, so I would go with platinum. However, I do not believe that one's engagement ring and/or wedding band/anniversary band must match other jewelry. The wedding set is a part of a person, IMO, and not just jewelry to be matched, if that makes sense. So in my eyes it is fine to wear a white metal ER/wedding band with a yellow gold watch or bracelet.

As for channel set or different diamond shapes, that is personal taste (as all of this is, I suppose). My preference is for shared-prong set diamond bands in half eternity styles (which allow for sizing more easily than full eternity bands), and I prefer bands with the same diamond shape. But I've also seen beautiful channel set bands and bands with alternating shapes that are gorgeous, so it all comes down to what speaks to you.

Most of all, congratulations on your 10 year anniversary! That is wonderful! An anniversary band is a fantastic gift and will be gorgeous regardless of what style you decide on.

I'm considering the same "dilemma" at the moment!
I'm not afraid to mix metals, but will stick to white gold for my new ring. I also want something slightly unusual to wear on my right hand, rather than adding to the rings on my left hand. I think it's purely personal preference, and anything goes! I say buy something that you absolutely love!!

You've selected some beautiful ones here. This is so timely for me, because I've lost a few small diamonds in my setting and I want to simply get a new setting and have the diamond reattached on either my current band or get something very similar to what you show in 1, 4 or 5.

My concern, or question really, is how the diamonds are set and which is best when it comes to strength and durability? Isn't one called channel-set and the other called something else?

I have gold bands now, but have been thinking about changing to platinum, although I was told the latter "feels" heavier on the hand. My watch has two colors of metal on the band. I'll be watching your thread here.
