Hello -
Another rainy day* here and I've decided to bite the bullet and get a pair of rainboots.

Could any of you suggest some?
They need to be BLUE!!

I found some Bogs that look good, but I'm unsure about the mid-blue. Looks like it might be more of a teal.

Love the color. It does show up as tending toward teal on my monitor. Have you searched on Zappos?

I've got the higher Hunter rain boots in blue & I love love love them! They're super comfy and clean up like a breeze after muddy walks.

My only issue with them is that if there is any icy patches at all, they are very slippy. So if you wear them during those transitional months where there might be a bit of ice here and there, you need to be aware of that. (I live in Toronto, Canada so this can be an issue. May not be for you.)

I have never regretted the money I spent on a pair of mid-shaft Hunters and some co-ordinating liners. Best footwear purchase I've ever made and I shake my head at how many pairs of ruined boots I could have saved over the years .They are SO practical it's amazing. I don't find my slippery at all, but I've become an old lady when walking on ice and am SUPER careful . I'd love a pair of the short ones shown by Aurore, above ...

Looking at different sites, the color looks the same, blue, but with some green. They're on sale at Zappos but the Hunters Aurore posted look definitely look more blue

I have low volume but not narrow feet and I get the best fit from Hunter and Le Chameau but Hunters can be slippery on trails when stepping on rocks. A shoe repair person told me the soles could be replaced or overlaid with better quality rubber

I have Muck boots like these. I’ve had them for over ten years. They are unattractive, I know. But I loved them in Barrow and Nome and St Paul, in Alaska last year and the year before. At the airport in Barrow I saw a woman with really cute rubber boots with owls on them. I remarked on them, and she said they leaked from day one. Mine did not, of course, but they were more than $20, too. If you’re home, I guess it doesn’t matter that much. But what a risk to take in such a remote location. My point is, I guess, that you get what you pay for.

Here are some hunter boots in Navy (image 1) I like the colour and style of these. They're available from Little Burgundy, a Canadian retailer. The boots themselves are made in China.

The other pair, Kamiks (image 2) are made in Ontario (my home province!) or and New Hampshire (also really close).
What do you think of the Kamiks?

Phoebe - Hmmm...I have somewhat regular-high volume feet (low arches though).

Exactly what Lisa said re: the mid-shaft Hunters ... mine are shiny black but they have many colours. Have had them for years; they were even good enough for winter boots this year (with a liner).

Smittie, I wasn’t suggesting you get Muck boots, but that you get a good brand. A company that is in it for the long haul. I would think both Bogs and Hunter are good brands.

A lot of Alaskans wear Xtratuf boots. They have a line called the Salmon sisters with fun linings. I saw a woman in Nome wearing these. They also have short blue ones.

I know you weren't suggesting those boots, Jaileen Ok, I'll buy something decent quality.
I looked at the Xtratufs Salmon Sisters. They have some really nice colours. (The salmon colour is really cool!)
I'll have a more in-depth look later.

Love the navy Hunters! I have a pair of black mid shaft Hunters that have been going strong for about 5 spring, fall and mild winter seasons. Great boot. I'm off of black and would really love a navy pair.

I'd highly recommend the Hunter Rubber Buffer. I hesitated buying it for several years but it's much better than soap and water alone. It brings the luster right back.
