Donna -- I just ordered both the skirt and the pants. I think the pants should work great with the jacket. I love the skirt but the combination might be too much for me. I would likely wear the skirt by itself until I got more comfortable with the hem. Thank you.
Lisa -- I also ordered a pair of dark navy jeans. I would love to find a knee length denim skirt, but that seems to be my HEWI. I'll keep looking.
I did consider the double-breasted factor too. When I was trying it on yesterday, this jacket looked good open. It looks GREAT closed, but I don't see me wearing it that way while sitting at a desk.
Thank you, Roberta. In my mind, I see this jacket coordinated with just-above-the-knee length skirts and slim cut, cigarette pants. My problem is that I am in the middle of a wardrobe rebuild and my building blocks are either limited, missing, or the wrong color. I boldly made the decision to have navy and black as my neutral colors in equal measure. It does not feel right combining this jacket with my black. It looks too mismatched (not purposeful). I'll check the length of the sleeve too. Good tip.
Bijou -- I considered sheath dresses! I was shopping NAS for them yesterday evening but did not see anything that I liked enough to try.
Thanks, Windchime. I am hoping that as I get comfortable with this jacket it will become a work horse for me.
Delurked, I am going to try the blazer on later this morning. It was just too hot and humid yesterday to even consider doing try-ons. Even it is hot and humid, I definitely want to get this done so that the jacket does not languish in my closet.
Thank you, Gryffin!!!!!! I was so hoping you would weigh in. ALL of your fabulous posts inspired me greatly. I devoured every single word you wrote. I stalked blazers religiously and this is the one that was most successful. I truly love it because it is pinstripe and it fits me like a dream. I have an idea of how I should be wearing it, I just don't have the coordinating pieces in my existing wardrobe .... yet.
Slaps head. Gigi. Of course, the rule of 1/3-2/3 proportions. I know all about that rule. HOW do I always forget it when I need it most????? I truly do need to tape something to my bathroom mirror. Thank you for reminding me.
KKards, I hope you do eventually buy a longer blazer. It would be fun to hear how you opt to style yours. In my mind, I agree that it all comes down to the silouhette of the bottoms (slim pant, straight jeans, knee-length pencil skirt). In retrospect, the midi-length skirt would like look awful. It would be long over long which I think I would abhor.
Thank you, Kathie, for the weblink. I did remember reading that blog when it was posted. I had a disconnect yesterday when I was standing in front of the mirror and closet. My brain went completely blank.
Joy and Keix -- I hope we all learn something about styling this emerging jacket length. I think we are going to be seeing more and more of them and I am genuinely excited about it. I can't say why though. In my heart, I feel it has the potential to be flattering on me because of my height.
Suz -- footwear. I was so focused on the bottom, I had not even considered footwear. I KNOW this blazer would look killer with booties, but I only own flat shoes in a loafer-ish style. I had hoped to buy a bootie during NAS but everything I tried was for medium-width feet. I opted to return the booties I ordered and search for something in a wide-width in the future.
Jenn -- I think this jacket would look especially fabulous with jeans. I'd love to hear your thoughts when you receive it.
