Ask Angie and others: How's the fit on the BR Indigo denim trouser?

I saw the Indigo denim trousers Angie has listed in the finds section and they look like they could fill a hole in my wardrobe. I'm confused on which size I should get though. I normally wear a 6 or a small/medium (depending on the cut) at Old Navy and Gap. I feel like I remember BR fitting smaller than than Old Navy and Gap. Does anyone have experience with these pants?

I don't have experience with the pants, but I do wear ON/Gap/BR often. I think BR is pretty much straight in line with ON and Gap for sizing. However, Angie did recommend sizing up. I'd just order a couple of sizes, to be safe. I have a couple of BRs close by, though, so I can return easily. If there aren't any in your area, it would be a tougher call.

I find some are cut a little smaller, and some a little larger -- I am usually an 8 or 10 in Gap/ON/BR, or a M. Some 8 BRs fit great, others are skin tight. Some 10s are too big, or some are tight.

So I would suggest you bracket your size. You wouldn't want trouser jeans to be skin tight, so a little larger would be better I think.

I have clients wear this style TTS and one size up. Personally when I assessed the fit on my own body, I sized up. I do prefer things looser though, because to my eye they look better that way. But some of my clients think these trouser jeans look better tighter.

Thanks K, Ceit and Angie! Since they're on sale for $31.50 (there's an extra 30% off right now), should I order a 6, 8 and 10? This is one of those times I wish they would post measurements with the clothes.

I went shopping with my mom and that's the trouser I convinced her to buy. She loves the comfort of it, and she sized up.

My mother and my sister both shop regularly at GAP and Banana. I think the cuts run pretty much the same sizing as GAP.

Kristin, if you can return easily, then yes, buy your regular size plus one up! If they aren't the right size, they will usually exchange and honor the price, but you run the risk that they will be sold out in your size. I do this all the time and have never had a problem. And on the measurements--stores honestly so rarely actually adhere to their size charts that I don't even bother anymore. Consulting them just seemed to be a waste of time for me. Maybe your experience has been better, though. (BTW, I also order my jeans in petite as well as regular even though I am 5' 5". Sometimes, very rarely, it saves me hemming. Most of the time, it is a painfully close 1/2 inch or so too short.)

@K - I was looking through the return policy and it looks fairly straight forward. I think I should be able to mail the pants back if they don't fit. I was planning on sticking to the regular. My legs are about if not hair above average, so usually I can get the regulars to work with flats and talls to for heels.

I have returned items to BR through the mail without a problem. I do pay for postage when they ship them to me though because free shipping seems to take forever and I am impatient

i would order a few sizes and return items that don't fit

The pants have finally made it! They aren't as stiff as I was hoping. They feel more like a regular trouser than a denim trouser to me.

I am very proud of myself for being able to realize that they do not fit what I am looking for/ need. So, they are (sadly) going back.
