Ask Angie: and others.. Dr Martens Sizing

Hi Angie & YLFers, I am keen to buy these boots, in the white, in the attached link but am unsure of the sizing. I am generally an australian size 6 In shoes, however they quote UK sizing here. Also at 5"1 and a bit I am concerned they may be too long.

Edit: Have just checked sizing chart which suggests I would be a size 4?

I'm really not sure, Deborah, but I've looked at a few Dr. Martens boots listings on Australian eBay and they seem to confirm that it's your regular Australian size - 2. So in your case that would indeed be a UK4.

I love the idea of these boots in white for you, can't wait to see you sport them!

Deborah, I have these boots in black. I am 5'3" (29" inseam) and I had to take them to a cobbler and have the top inch cut off because they dug into the back of my knees when I sat down or walked. They are pretty tall. I bought them in my regular shoe size and they fit fine, perhaps a little loose. But I always wear them with thick socks.

Deb, at 5ft 1 the 20 eyelet Docs will absolutely be too long for your lower leg. (Thanks for chiming in about that, Ana). Our 5ft 2 YLF'ers have drowned in their height. I am 5ft 6 and only just tall enough for them. (32 inch inseam).

How about the shorter style - 14 eyelet? Our Chicago Laura is petite and rocks those in grey.

For these I sized down to a US 6. (I am usually a US 6.5).

Deborah, I know nothing of Doc Martens, but I just had to say that I am astounded to learn that you are 5'1" ! I was quite sure from your pictures that you were closer to 5'10" !!! You must be dressing tall!

Angie, thanks so much! I will do some measurements and try the 14 eyelet as you suggest. They will probably be just the right length on a shorty like me :). I am going to ask my lovely hubby for them for Christmas

Claire how sweet you are. I think it may be the angle that I take most of my photos. I don't do them that way purposely to look tall but rather it seems a good angle to show of the outfits. My dad always used to say to me that "good things come in small packages"

Definitely try the shorter ones I'm 5ft 7 and a half and my lower leg is just tall enough for the 20's. I am a uk 6.5 so sized up to 7 and I have room for thick socks and toe wiggling. These are the warmest boots I own and sooooo comfy I hope you get them to work x
