Ask Angie and others: black blazer recommendations?

Hi everyone. I've been looking around for a black blazer and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions or recommendations of ones they liked. I'd like to stay around $75. My goal is to have something that I can wear with jeans as well as dress pants. What do y'all think?

Edit: I liked the Gap ones from a bit ago, but I waited too late to grab one.

I would check H&M. I' ve had good luck with blazers there.

I have a red Old Navy blazer that I love, I think it comes in black too. It's a BF fit but the price point was only about $20 (on sale) so it might not be the quality you're looking for. I'm interested in seeing what everyone else has to say, I've been looking for a black, tailored blazer myself but haven't been able to find one.

i think the dress pants and the jeans should have the same shape/proportions for one jacket to work with both.

i posted some k/r jackets and angie chimed in re jacket length and skinnies vs slouchies. so i think it would work similarly with dress pants.

Currently only 20% off so $80. Give them time, they will run 30-35% off again. They always do, and that will put it in your range.

I like the Gap blazer. Sometimes they are cheaper in the store than on-line, so you might want to check that out if you live near a Gap store, Kristin.

Sometimes you can find a great J.Crew blazer on sale. I grabbed this cotton "suiting" one http://bit.ly/13zkKQZ on sale at the time for like $80. Still pricey but it fits like a dream and is amazing quality. It comes in camel and black as well. You could also try J.Crew Factory!

I like the Gap one because the material is the same as their premium pants, so it easily doubles as a suit when needed. That said, I adore most Halogen suits -- the details on their jackets are simple but stand out. You can just buy the jacket if that is all you need!

I have built up a nice blazer collection the last few years -- my only recommendation for building one is to leave no retail stone unturned. I have found jackets from all kinds of stores.
