Ask Angie and Everyone: White Bootcut Jeans

Hello ladies, I'm in a hurry to decide by the end of the week and need your help.

I'm considering keeping a pair I ordered on-line, I love the fit, but I really want them to work hard all year.

How classic are white bootcut jeans and what's their longevity factor? How can I style them for winter?

Apologies in advance if the thread turns into post-and-run, it's mid week and I'm short on time plus I'm packing for vacation which starts on the weekend.

Very. I would wear them to the office only if I go to work by car (I should get it by winter ).

I love my white bootcuts but, for me, they are only late spring and summer jeans. I find them impractical in rainy or snowy weather for daily wear because they soil too quickly; I don't like having to fret or worry about my clothes so that is a big negative for me. I also find them hard to style in fall and winter because I find their optical brightness looks blinding next to my fall and winter palette.

But do admire Angie's fall and winter looks that incorporate whites and creams. They look gorgeous on her but I don't think I could get over worrying about every puddle and snowbank.

Another factor - how will you hem them? I struggle with bootcuts. If you hem them for flat sandals in summer, you'll need to wear them with flat boots or booties in winter.

Mine were hemmed for 1-2 inch heel and I had a hard time as its been raining here and I just couldn't wear them. I finally hemmed them a bit more.....and have to keep reminding myself that I'll be able to wear heels soon again. If you like your bootcuts with flats, go for it. They're very wearable when it's not raining and look really classic!

I am planning on wearing my white jeans all year. We don't have too much snow, usually, so I'll be okay there.

I haven't begun to build my winter wardrobe so I'm really interested in seeing what people suggest.

I'm more worried about what shoes I'll be putting with them though.

As much as many Fabbers say they wear their white jeans year round, I still find them a seasonal piece. I'm in Michigan, and it just feels ... wrong ... to wear them in the cold months. That said, it can take me some time to come around to trends, and while late to the game I often get there!

For true winter I'd prefer the non bootcut ones you were wearing in image 2 of your Viva Viveca post. You always look very neatly turned out so I believe you could keep bootcuts cleaned but I still think they'd look off in snowy weather.

But I can easily picture you in the others, rolled, with neutral colored boots in tan, burgundy, or brown, and a big sweater in a neutral like grey, cream, etc.

As others have mentioned, it's probably not the color but the bootcut that can be hard to work with. Still, they will look incredible on you and worth the fuss.

I have AT white bootcut trousers, not jeans.
I got them to wear to work as more dressy than a jean, but able to extend wear due to not being cropped. And hemmed to a blocky heel, not flats.
That said, I'm with Gaylene, I don't expect to wear them a lot in mid-winter; it was more for cool spring and summer A/C and into fall.
But I do plan to evaluate that, as I wear some "cool" colors in winter, the the form of sweaters, and a lot of gray, and bright white might just work. For me the fabrication, even though lined, will not be what I need for my freezing self, unless perhaps with silk long underwear!

Bootcuts are a bad idea for year-round wear in your climate, Ornella. White skinnies, straight legs and BF jeans are the practical year-round silhouette.

I LOVE my white flares and wore them often in Spring and now in Summer. But good weather is the operative word.

I wear white jeans all Canadian winter but in skinny and BF styles. Even my dark wash bootcuts and flares are not worn November to April - snow and rain are not kind to this style. Which is a pity because the style is very flattering for curvy gals.
There is always an option alter bootcuts into straight legs though...

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your thorough input greatly.

I have decided to return them. As fantastic as they are, being of the same kind of denim as my old much loved white jeans, your input has helped me realise that they would work better for my spring and summer, than for the rest of the year. I also think my hurry to rebuild the reduced jeans capsule, in combination with my inherent inclination to hold on to any jeans just because they are long enough, was getting to me. And with our summer almost over, it was better just to pass them.
