Ask Angie (and everyone): Waxed jeans choices -- any advice?

I would love to try this look. I'm checking out some options on Nordstrom's website, and there are quite a few. The Nordstrom near me is relatively small and doesn't carry much when it comes to edgier selections, so I thought I'd try online shopping for this.

Here are the selections I'm considering. Have you seen any of them in person, and/or do you have a sense of which ones might work better for my long-legged but generously hipped and thighed self? I've had good luck in the past with Paige (Skyline and HH cuts). JBrand and Rich and Skinny have worked for me too, but I always have to get waists taken in. Same goes for Kuts.

If I should rule any of these out, could you let me know? I don't think I want anything *too* terribly shiny, but I'm willing to try anything you think would be a good choice!

have you tried habitual jeans?

ps...i have 1jbrand in a reddish maroon, and 2 habitual in a dark red and in a chicolate. all waxed...i have reached for one of these 3 or a pair of black jbrand skinnies since may. well worn. washes well. the maroon jbrand are getting some wear patterns on the waxed surface which adds to their charm.

I don't think I've ever even see Habitual jeans in a store, so no, I've never tried them. Off to Google...

Of the ones you posted, the only ones I don't like are the Kuts - I think they look too much like regular denim. The Rich & Skinny oxblood pair (which you didn't post) at Nordstrom are GORGEOUS - I just didn't want to pay that much.

Janet, if you can get to Nordies and try on the lot - that would be best. Really, this animal is a liquorice all sorts when it comes to fit. Don't be scared to size up either.

I bought a pair a few years back from SPIRIT de.corp and love them, they are great quality and still look like new. But I do love all the ones you posted, specially the first link

Thanks, Angie and everybody! Hmm, I'm wondering if the Nordies in Towson has a better selection than Annapolis. Or... Columbia or Bethesda might be better. Annapolis store is relatively tiny, and pretty conservative.

I just ordered some "otter wax" to try to re-wax a pair of jeans that accidentally got put in the dryer. they are a dark red wash by Jeanne Becker (a fashion icon here in Canada). I will let you know how it goes!
