Mephisto sandals - yay or nay? ETA one more question

The sales started here today and I walked into Mephisto to try on some sandals. I tried on these grey sandals and I am in love. I love the colour, the straps, the anke strap thingy and they are super comfortable and fit my wide feet perfectly. They are a little on the expensive side, but I have spent all summer searching for sandals and these are one of the only pairs that are perfect, according to me.

What do you think? If they are Angie and YLF approved, I will buy them first thing tomorrow since sizes sell quickly! As per today's blog post, these would be somewhere in between casual and fun sandals!

ETA: My second option is the sandal in pic #4, but they are not on sale. The mephisto ones are more comfy and fun looking.

ETA question: I could get the grey sandals in #4 and get the Mephisto ones in red. That would add two pairs of sandals to my wardrobe. Would that be a good idea?

I love the first ones! I think they are great as a fun style and also the color works as an alomost-nude, so I'm thinking there won't be much in the way of stumpifying issues. If you've been searching a long time and these are perfect in your eyes, go get them!

IMO the gray color of #4 is not as pretty, and the ankle strap of #1 might not be as flattering in red. Just my two cents. I wish #4 was offered in red instead; then I'd vote for two in a heartbeat.

Rae, I was just thinking about the ankle strap not looking as good in red! I will check to see if mephisto has any other red sandals, since I like the idea of having a red pair!

Counter question for the 2-sandal query: How soft is the leather in the second one? The strap cuts just across the bottom of your nailbed on your big toe, and that area will get irritated fast unless the leather and the stitching are both super-soft. Ideally, I'd want the front strap lower across your foot, just over the balls of your feet, like the first one is doing.
