Hi everyone. My mother and future mother and father-in-law are going to be visiting next weekend for wedding things and I would like some *very* honest feedback about what I'm thinking clothing wise for the wedding party and our families. There is one slight exception. I have a pic below of me in my wedding dress. We've already bought it and I have fallen completely in love with it, so please be gentle with that.

*Edit - It will be an late summer/early fall afternoon wedding.

Ok, deep breath... I've been thinking of a more low-key, vintage garden party of sorts wedding. I'd like for most of the clothes that everyone will wear to be something they either already have or can be worn again later. I know my wedding dress (and maybe the bridesmaids dresses) won't fit that, but that's ok. I'm thinking about putting the groomsmen and my DF in navy sports coats, nice (maybe khaki) pants, ivory shirts and red ties. I'm thinking ivory shirts because my dress is ivory and I've heard that white and ivory don't play together well in pictures. For the bridesmaids, I'd like them to wear red satin dresses. I've picked out the color (it's David's Bridal's apple red) which should look nice on everyone and I'm thinking about telling them to find any red satin knee length dress that works for them. I think that would still be fun, but then everyone can still match. My DF's niece will be the flower girl and I've told her mother she can wear whatever she wants, just please don't clash. I've seen how hard it can be to dress her and I trust her mom, who is also one of my maids.

My grandfather will be doing our service (squee!) and to have him match everyone, but look separate, my grandmother told me he has a navy suit. I'm thinking of having him wear that with an ivory shirt and red tie. My mom is looking for a dress in either amethyst or another deep purple (we can rock some gem tones). I think my father will be in a suit as well, but I haven't gotten that far, yet. I plan on telling my DF's parents to wear whatever them want, just don't clash.

My dress is pictured along with my awesome shoes. I was n't wild about the headband and veil they put on me, so I'm still looking for that. I think a little hat with the birdcage style veil would be beautiful. And I'm planning on having another pair of shoes for the reception, but I haven't found the right pair yet. I normally don't go for beading and that sort of thing, but when I put this dress on, my heart just sang and it felt right. Here are links to the shoes and dress if it's hard to see them in the pic. And please excuse the weird face I'm making. That was dress #15 in about 1.5 hours.

Thanks for reading such a long post. How does all that sound? Does it make sense? Am I just out of my mind? That last one could be true.
