I found these Pollini shoes** at my favorite favorite consignment shop back in September, and I didn't wear them, because the weather was still too hot, and they have a furry lining. I put them in the DBF's closet, where they were promptly buried in a landslide of luggage pieces and golf gear, and I promptly forgot their existence. Out of sight, out of mind.
I unearthed them yesterday, while trying to streamline our shared space... but now it's too cold not to wear some sort of thicker hosiery. Are tights + open toes weird? I remember seeing the look a few years ago on the Anthropologie site and in their catalogs.
Any suggestions on how I could style these, so as not to look too twee or crazy? I really dig the rich colors and the fur, but I am in my 40's now. I feel I want a look that says "Italian" and "creative", without being over-the-top Donatella.

(** These were $14.99, and they look like they were never worn - probably buried in someone's closet, just like mine. I googled them, and they originally retailed for something ridiculous, like, $450. $450! For what are basically novelty or clubbing shoes - not investment pumps or boots or sandals one would wear the heck out of every day of the summer. We live in crazy, ridiculous, wasteful times. Just saying.).
