Ask Angie: and all Which Jacket

So the NAS was a bust for me in terms of jackets - I was hoping to add a new leather jacket but don't want to add another black - was looking for a brown but didn't like any of the choices

I have found the two below at Lafayette148 - Their clothing fits me like a dream

1. Red - appeals to me - would fit in with my wardrobe of black, gray and Navy - Red looks good on me - gives me pause as I usually wear read only as an accent (shoes, scarfs, purses)

2. Tan - oh how I adore this color and this shape - yet I struggle with yet another neutral in a neutral heavy wardrobe. However today I am wearing a sweater of a similar color and feel quite happy in my tan, black and off-white.

I am not going to buy both to try - So this is kinda a cage match for which one

You didn't say anything about the shape of the red one. How do you feel about its shape? You said you were looking for brown; does the tan fulfill that?

If you can't decide based on color, perhaps on shape?

I like the shape of the tan. The red is too boxy in my opinion, while the tan will flatter a woman with curves a lot more. The front of that jacket will fall beautifully! I really love the cut....the jacket will easily go with your outfit today and kick things up a notch....or two!

I agree on the shape of the tan. I think that would be very flattering and I think it looks more unique and distinctive than the red.

Ditto on the shape of the Tan Jacket! Although I love the color red (and wear lots of it) the shape of the Red jacket is underwhelming to me.

YES. Lafayette is a great brand. You wear it well, Frannie.

That said, you can add a coloured top and scarf to the tan jacket,

Frankly I'd love to have both. I know, that's against the rules! The tan to me feels - both in color and in shape - far more versatile and conventionally flattering. But boy, would I love to be able to bust out the red one once in a while. The shape and color are SO much more interesting! So dramatic! Could really make an outfit sing!
If you have to get only one the tan is probably the way to go, but if there is a gift giving event coming up where you can justify another, it might be worth considering the red too. If it fits you well it could be a great wildcard special piece.

As soon as I decide to take a 30-day shopping hiatus, you just had to post a picture of that beautiful tan jacket!! Naturally, I needed to take a look at both jackets on the actual website, because the pictures would be better, allowing me to give you a more honest opinion about your choices. And, of course, there is just one petite tan jacket left and it is my size!

So, I am casting a vote for the tan, both because of the beautiful shape and because I expect in real life that the glazed leather will be pretty extraordinary. Whichever one you choose, please post lots of pictures so I can live vicariously through you!

I'm agreeing the tan looks like it would be so flattering, and I think that will make you reach for it even though it is not so dramatic. You would then be able to wear with colorful tops or skirts to add the zing back, and accessories as Angie said.
The other option would be to search for a different red jacket.....

I like the red. Lafayette is pricey but beautiful and I think the red jacket is more classic. The style of the tan is nice, but I'm not a fan of the zippered pockets. If you wear red as an accent, a red jacket would work for you. Hard to chose...they're both nice!

I like the red, I love the color and I don't think the style is dull or too formal at all. I think you might find it easier to wear more often and that the style will last longer.

But! The tan is also very pretty, the style might be more flattering and it could be interesting to add style rather than color. It is entirely possible that the cut might be more flattering.

Can you try them on?

I agree that I prefer the shape of the tan and the colour of the red. Having to choose between the two, I'd go with the better style/shape of the tan jacket and accent it with a brighter blouse or scarf or statement necklace.
