I have enjoyed my Topshop culottes this year though I don't wear too often since they're sort of memorable. So maybe once a month.
I had left them original length for a) not putting more $ into them until I tried them and b) to embrace the more extreme look.
What is interesting is that they are actually potentially so versatile, as color goes with everything, from warm to cool, and I could do tights or booties, but I tend to view the length as a little "out there".
I am wondering if I'd feel they were more mainstream, sort of like a "riding skirt" , if I hemmed them up to below-knee length? I don't currently have a pinned-up photo.
Meaning also, would it serve any styling advantage to have more leg, for proportions with booties, to make work better with tights for cooler weather, and for balancing volume? I'm not so worried about destroying "trendiness" as I am to making proportions worse, instead of better. Or whether it's worth taking any trouble at all, since I'm not sure how to think about longevity; might not be "in" next summer and fall or may be over them.
Any input from culottes-wearers and experimenters?
