After showing fitting room pics on the forum, I ordered the Gap Skinny Mini khakis to try them at home. Angie, I really loved the scrunched Khaki pic you posted a while back and wanted to see if I could pull it off.

I do like these and can think of lots of ways to style them. I like that they look nice with flats and boots. I am hesitating because I am not used to keeping closet influx to a minimum, and I only really want to get one great pair of pants/jeans for a Spring refresher. Already returned ombre jeans because I felt those weren't it. I don't have anything remotely approaching a khaki pant already.

Are these worthy of being The Pants of S/S 2013?

Obviously, I am not Angie but I am interested to hear the response. I tried these on as well and left them at the store. You definitely have the cool factor to wear these, Rae. They look like fun pants and they look great with your oxfords

These look a lot better on you than they did on me, and better here than the dressing room pics. I'd give them a yes except I'm not sure if they are right to be the ONLY pants...

They look as good on you as they will on anybody, Rae, but I have to admit that they're just not my cup of tea. I think they'd be a pain to keep scrunched like that.

They actually stay scrunched and don't slide down at all. If anything, it's harder to un-scrunch them. Just in case that makes a difference to any future evaluations.

They look good, whether these qualify as the pants of s/s of 2013, is rather a personal call.

I anticipate these are going to be too casual for POV, if the new gig is a consideration.

I really like them on you, which comes as a surprise to me. I wouldn't have expected to like that shape. As to whether they could be the right one for your one and only, now that's hard. I like them a lot. I'd have a very hard time committing to something this early in the pre-season.

K has a good point about it being early in the season to make a commitment. And these will still be around in a month, if you still want them.

I think if I asked myself 'is this the one x for the next six months' I would never buy anything at all, though, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me.

My thoughts were exactly the same as Parsley's. I don't know why, but this extreme scrunch thing doesn't look easy or comfortable to me. I am just not with the times, I know.

Hm, good point, Zap. It hadn't occurred to me that khakis are casual.

I just bought this skirt in both colors. Maybe I don't need anymore scrunchy bottoms this season at all?

They're darling and you always pull off everything you try, in my book. The "but" is that they look a heck of a lot like you're about to go rafting with Huck Finn. In a good way but still, more than casual.

My thoughts are in line with Zap's: this is a good casual pant option, but you'll likely need one or two pairs of trousers for work too. For a casual pant I think these are super fun! I quite like the extreme scrunch, but then I do like waaaay more scrunch than most people ^^ Next question: How long can you wear these? Are they cotton? Can you comfortably wear them when it gets warmer?

Khaki pants are my worst nemesis, but you totally pull off this look. They are very casual, so I'm not sure if I would allot them "only pant purchase status", but they are definitely worth a place in your wardrobe. They look fantastic on you.

You look great in these. A terrific casual pant. You totally have the cool factor to pull these off!

But if you need more for al work trousers, and you are only permitting yourself a single pair of trousers, then I would pass in favor of work wear.

Ok, I guess these have to go back. I have decided it's a deal-breaker that they can't go to work. Why in the world did I think khaki was formal? I guess that is what you get banking for so long...

Alright, so I have three pairs of dressy pants: BR sloans, silk microcheck, and silk black. I dunno, maybe I don't need anything more? The non-black slouchy ones I see available at Nordstrom don't seem different enough. Maybe this will change as more items come out.

They are so worthy of being THE PANTS!! I think you can dress these up plenty for Nordies. You have the pieces and the footwear - and will wear make-up!

I think scrunched legs are casual. But I have no problem with these going to work - I just don't want to limit you to ONE pair of pants!

Just when I was going to weigh in with a nay you got a yes in caps from Angie! Oh well, I would have agreed with Janet and Parsley, and Hildy. Just too scrunched but much more interesting than mot of the khaki out there.

There you have it, khakis are not acceptable workwear here, for retail even, but I guess it is different in the west coast, but Angie knows best.

You might want to check in with Nordies. Each dept has its OWN dress code. TBD, Savvy and BP gals can wear faded jeans whereas gals in other departments cannot.

Alrighty, I will ask tomorrow about khakis/chinos. CA is really weird when it comes to pants, corduroy being acceptable in the office but not denim, for example. POV and Narrative seem a little bipolar to me, one more casual weekend wear and the other office wear, so perhaps there is a chance.
