WIW 3/6-7 and K/R blazer, topper review
1 WIW AT sweater and pink silk shirt, Talbot’s tapered pant, Kenneth Cole laceless oxfords
2 WIW Talbot’s lilac cashmere sweater (waving to Thistle, lilac sweater twin), AT marled knit skirt, hospital gift shop pointy zebra flats (leave no retail stone unturned).
Next - Opinions desired on Marshall’s "Calvin Klein" camel rayon-blend blazer—got several months ago because I still like jackets in this longer length, and a transitional color, and lightweight; not worn due to polar vortex so trying to see whether to keep and how to style. I have the same one in black, a size larger.
3 with the same tapered pants as in 1, and oxfords. These pants may not be the best prototype and now I see I need better photo angles, but represent a slimmer pant than trousers, so it’s one I’ve used to keep that look going. I’d like to find some summer-type work pants in the fluid-tapered silhouette.
4-6 is with an AT trouser and would be more like what I “used to” wear. Now to me is too tailored/classic together and not enough modern, or possibly "feminine", elements.
6 Camel cardigan with lapel collar—tailored, but a different vibe from the long blazer. Might be better with skirts?
7- BR (prior year) safari jacket with trouser—not very fluid-boxy but I think is fresher than the blazer for this pant.
I was thinking of keeping the CK blazer specifically to try to style with tapered pants/ longer knit top/oxford or loafer outfits, because I like and need the rear coverage it gives with those proportions, and the classic blazer style seems to work with the more modern elements. As a Marshall’s buy, it can be an experiment or few-season purchase, though I’d love it if it were a workhorse or lasted longer.
For the more classic trousers, I think I should continue to try slightly shorter (but not cropped) jackets with some kind of different detailing or edge, safari, some kind of embellishment, or trendy something to contrast with the plain and conservative look of trouser-style pant.
Any tips on styling or yays/nays welcome.
