Ask Angie and all: can't figure out how to style blouse from Chicago YLF meet-up

I was so excited when I found this Vince Camuto blouse at Macy's in Chicago with the YLF crew... but I'm afraid to say it has become a wardrobe orphan. I wore it a few times in the spring but somehow it feels more like a fall piece.

But because it's so bright and bold I'm having a hard time figuring out what to wear with it. Black pants somehow feel too harsh. I haven't tried denim yet as I can't wear jeans to work.

How would you style this blouse in a business casual way? It is tunic length.

I LOVE that blouse on you!

How about over a pencil skirt with boots or animal print flats? Add hose for warmth.

I haven't tried it with a skirt... Interesting idea! That might lighten it up a bit. Will experiment tonight!

I wear blouses like that all the time with jeans! Bootcut or skinny. So that could be a casual, outside work, look for you. As for work.....hmmm.....can you wear black pant-styles leggings? Like not the black leggings that 15 yr olds wear but ones with pockets and seams but not jean material? Also, what about tucked into a grey pencil skirt?

Is the dark color chocolate brown or plum? Just wondering.

I'd wear it with tan, chocolate brown or grey bottoms for work. I wish I had a better idea of your style, but all of your WIW pictures are no longer up. I'm sure Angie has it down perfectly though, so the best I can do is offer up suggestions of colors that I'd wear it with. (And I'd happily wear it with boots in any of those colors and jeans for non-work days!)

Do you have non-black trousers, Marianna? If not maybe you should get some - like in charcoal. They are easier to pair with brights that the black.

Is that dark brown or black mixed in there?

If it is a dark brown, try pairing it with with tweed. In a pencil skirt or a pair of tweed skinnies.

You can also tone it down with a neutral cardigan or a chunky sweater over it.

Add in some tall boots and tights and you're set for fall.

There's a taupe colour in that mix too, if you find the black comes on too strong. Do you have any skirts or pants that could pick that up?

I thought I saw a bit of taupe in there too. Perhaps over a dark taupe slim pant with boots. It is a nice top and it would be a shame for it to not get out.
