Dear Angie and Fabbers, my trend-trying met an obstacle, and could use some rescuing.
Last summer I bought the EF gray silk cuffed tracky pants, which have not seen much wear since this cold winter came along.
Now thinking about spring, I have to admit that I also have ISSUES with these pants, and so they are about to be orphans if I can’t figure some things out.
I think they are too long for me. So, when worn with ankles zipped or nearly so, they really bunch up and make weird poufies along the calves. Pics 2-3 are examples, but they do different things, make funny angular bunches and so on. To me this is more than some scrunching or slouching--it looks weird. The bunching makes me feel like I am wearing... too-long pants.
You would think the zipper would help. But, since the zipper is on the side, it does not work well for unzipping. The pants hang up funny. Oh, the magic of the Leith track pant front ankle zipper, whose positioning let the pants slide over the vamp of shoe or the foot. Plus the Leiths were a better length to start with.
Last summer I wore the EF's mostly for date-night and similar so I could wear low-vamped high-for-me heels—wedges, woohoo *(photo 1 ). With the the low vamp and higher heel in back, just a bit of unzipping released some of the bunching. But, I only do that type of outfit very occasionally.
My new gray oxfords, which are a great color for these pants, don’t work at all.- (Pic 2)
I tried all my shoes and am showing what I think is the best shoe--a pointy-toe flat which is my lowest vamped flat.
Pic 3 is the flat with pants zipped. I don't like the bunching!
Pics 4-5 is the pointy toe flat,—shown about all the way unzipped so they look almost like little boot-cuts. My observation is that it is the low vamp that is key to the flow with the side zipper, not heel height alone,
Pic 6 is tucked into boots for a "storm-trooper" look, which isn't practical to keep looking that way.
Thoughts? Could I “own” the unzipped look and wear them sliding down over my flats to get some regular wears out of them, so as not to limit them to dressier occasions? "Hey there, yes, I know everyone wears track pants high show the ankles, but I’m UNIQUE and set my own trends."
Do you think I am overreacting to the length and bunching? I have a serious poison eye for it and do not feel comfortable. Can you think of some other solutions?
Thank you for any comments and suggestions !
