Ask Angie: all this Theory craziness...

...got me obsessed! Especially Angie's new ink blazer (I have not seen it yet but I am sure it is amazing). Unfortunately my foray into Theory brand last weekend proved that Gabe model is a bit short on me to be perfect even though overall fit is good.
I did try on Donelly model and it was much better because it is about 1.5 - 2" longer.
So somehow I got to the Theory website today and this is what I found there:
Kevina model - dark blue and long! Actually maybe too long?
Dancey in dark blue - the same length as Donelly I tried in the store so promising
Ganella - burgundy, length between Dancey and Kevina. Not dark blue but burgundy may be a good color for me too?

Angie, have you tried any of these models on yourself or on clients? What do you think of them for me?
Anyway they are quite pricey but maybe I can become a stalker? Anyway they are a bit less money than full price at Nordstrom...bad thing is I don't see any sale items there so maybe Theory does not have sales at all?!

Pssst. Sveta. They do have sales. And so does Holt's. Not huge sales. But they are having an "event" this weekend. As for Theory itself, I think they have one sale per season?

Er, not to enable or anything.

I may be purchasing a certain jacket during a promotion.

Their site is awful. It only includes a few items. They really aren't with the online world yet. Alas. So it would mean another trip to the city. I think waiting for the actual Theory sale and ordering online to the US is probably smartest. Or on sale from Nordstrom's. Or else the Bay in downtown Toronto, where they will have some of this stuff, although I am not sure how much or in what sizes. (They don't have Theory on their website, either...I checked....)

Theory has a site-wide 25% off discount every fall. It ended a few weeks ago. They also mark things down on their website towards the end of the season, but a lot of things sell out before being marked down. But, I've done well by waiting for my favorites to go on sale.

If you ever come to NYC, go to Century 21. They often have Theory blazers, heavily discounted.

I just bought the ink Gabe B 2 full price because they never have my size at sale time. It is what it is and I'm fine with that.

Sveta, the longer Theory blazers have excellent potential. I love them all for you - especially the Ganella. If anyone can rock the Kevina, it's you. I wasn't overly fond of the Donelly. It seemed oddly proportioned for a Theory blazer. I have not seen the others in person yet, but I might.

Sveta, I was obsessed with Theory too til I tried the Lanai. Looked awful and the only place it fit was the sleeves. Made me feel fat! What a horrible thing to say, but it was discouraging. I was looking at the Ganella but now I'm not sure. Maybe Theory suiting is just not meant for those in my size range (kinda like Smythe and I am so bitter). Okay, pity party over!
I can totally see you in the Dancey! Any of them would be great but when I opened the Dancey, I just saw you! Like how they style it with blackwatch trousers.

Thank you Angie. I totally get this full price thing, I have the same with shoes: you snooze you lose kind of thing It wold be nice to get it on discount though... You will let me know if you saw them in person, right?
Nicole, Lanai was actually a very good fit for me as was Gabe, the only problem was the length: too short. We may have different builds, I usually don't have troubles fitting jackets as I small busted and have a narrow upper body. My usual fitting issue with jackets is length of the torso and sleeves and sometimes too wide body because my shoulders are wide but my chest and back are narrow. Size 12 in Theory jackets fits me pretty well. Now, trousers is a VERY different story, it is a real pain in the butt to find the ones which fit!

Maybe we could share a suit! But two suits in the two different sizes, and I'll take the smaller bottom and you can take the smaller jacket. We all have our fit challenges, eh?
