I made another pilgrimage to Nordies today, to actually try the Bebe jacket that Bei-Jing rocked. I did not rock that jacket

But I did 'seem to' rock the Guess leopard coat! It IS dramatic, but oh so perfect for our fall/spring weather. (I'm always attracted to leopard and have already accumulated a variety of leopard things -- belt, flats, heels, blouse, and our cat.)

I'm really worried that at my age/stage of life, instead of looking stylish, I'll look like the sweet old ladies in our church who pulled their 40-year-old leopard coats out of the closet last winter, thrilled that leopard is 'in' again :-\

I couldn't take pics at Nordies, but appreciate any thoughts or insights on how 50-somethings can or can't look fab in this.

P.S. I could only try L, but it might've been my size if I wanted to fit a blazer under it, but I don't. So I'm figuring M would be okay . . . anyone tried on an M?

I don't think you'd look like a sweet old church lady at all. In fact, I think leopard looks best with a little sophistication, so it'd be great on you!

I LOVE this coat, too, and have been thinking about it since yesterday's Beijing outfit post.

I am wondering about the sleeve length. It says that it's a 3/4 sleeve, but I am blessed (or cursed, depending upon how one views it) with "gorilla arms" and am wondering how the sleeves would hit me. The sleeves looked long on Beijing, but short on the model on the website. I guess I should go try it on, but I'm scared to set foot in Nordstrom because I've already spent SO much money on NAS and have almost completely blown my 2011 shopping budget. I need to be on SYC for the most part, but I've wanted a leopard print coat for probably 5 years now! I didn't see this coat when I pre-shopped NAS at my local store, so I'm wondering if they would even have it in stock now. Maybe I should just order a Medium (Angie said that Beijing wears size 4 and took a Small, so I should be Medium at size 6-8) and take my chances...

By the way, I am about to turn 45 and I'm not the least bit worried that this coat would not be age-appropriate MNSara, I think you should give it a whirl!

Can I be the naysayer? Last year I bought the cropped NAS leopard coat. I barely wear it. Mostly because it's not warm at all and when it's warm it's doesn't feel appropriate.

To help me figure out if I'd feel the same -- is your coat lined? How did it not feel appropriate - not going with the outfit you were wearing, leopard wasn't right for where you were going, or . . .??

I like it and also think it is age appropriate (I am on team age is just a number and if you can rock it you should wear it)

But I really don't get 7/8 or 3/4 sleeves on coats. They just make no sense to me. Like short sleeve sweaters. If it is cold enough for a coat, I need the sleeves to come all the way down.

Sara, I ordered that coat after seeing it on Bei Jing! Can't wait to see if it works! (And I love a 3/4 sleeve coat because the long sleeves are ALWAYS ALWAYS way too long on me!)

High five to short-armed systers, MaryK!! I LOVE 3/4 sleeves and this is only intended for fall and spring.

modgrl - I would definitely notice too short sleeves during winter -- I even notice gaps between sleeves and gloves

My jacket is lined with a satin like fabric. I like leopard but I think mine has a very limited weather window to wear.
