I second Suz's first reply:-)
And agree that these skinnies look amazing on you, Ingunn, so if you feel like wearing them, then go for it!
(I was also thinking that you might see more people starting to wear them again once the weather cools off a little).

ETA: I have a pair of cobalt blue straight legs that I almost never wear, but I did love wearing them last Fall/Winter tucked into tall black boots and paired with my navy and red striped turtleneck (sometimes I'd add a leather jacket or blazer). It gave them a somewhat equestrian feel, and that always makes me happy.

You've gotten a lot of good advice here already, Ingunn. Colored denim might not be cutting-edge fashion, but it certainly isn't out of fashion. These jeans are a fun, playful part of your wardrobe so I'd go ahead and wear them.

I'd also add that since red is a staple color in your wardrobe, it really functions as a neutral for you.

Ingunn, coloured bottoms (NON-jeans) are not at all dated. In fact completely fashion forward and trendy. 3.1 Philip Lim just brought out bright emerald pants. I see lots of pink and cobalt trousers too. J. Crew has gone moggy with non-neutral cropped pants for Fall.

Bright coloured jeans are another animal - and far less on trend than they used to be about three years ago - but also not dated. There are definitely more "on trend" coloured denim colours though - like pastels and burgundies.

In short, if you love your red jeans Ingunn, wear them and have fun with the look. You look great in them.

You look great in your red jeans! I haven't seen them as much because of the hot weather here, but I have a feeling they will be back out in force this fall (in my area at least).

Well, I am glad you asked! I loved mine bought last year and am dying to fit into them again. Nor am I normally a fan of skinnies or red. But I like these and did enjoy them more than expected.

Maybe it's because I have a woman who owns several pairs of colored jeans and trousers (and has owned them for years) very close to me, but I would think colored pants (and especially red ones) are quite a classic piece of clothing, especially if it's a streamlined style (like cigarette pants).
I don't own colored pants aside from red, navy and beige skinnies, but I wouldn't say they are dated. At all. I actually saw loads of colored denim options in store this past Spring (Fall-Winter is much more neutral and darker), and I even saw colored boot-cuts.
All I have to say is: wear them with pride if you want to. Not dated to me!

I don't have any colored jeans but am interested in how the fashion winds blow. I'd love to hear what is the way to wear them for this fall that would separate the in from the out! Such as--with more neutrals? with color blocking? with more nautical items? That sort of thing. I'd like to hope our items can have that kind of longevity.

Beth Ann, did you check out Land's End collection of colored jeans and chinos?

I agree with Angie -- not dated at all. I have reached for them less because it's summer and I'll have plenty of time to wear them this fall. I have red skinnies too and I have no intention of giving them up after just one season. Wear them with pride! I just bought a seersucker blazer that will look fabulous with mine when it starts to cool off around here.

Thank you for sharing all this wisdom, ladies! Now I feel totally confident about my red skinnies. You are right, the red color is an important part of my decision to keep things playful.

Angie, I read your answer with great interest, thank you so much for taking time to respond on a Sunday and all. I think that I'm more into pants these days than skinnies, so if the opportunity rises for a pair of red pants, I'll go for that instead. I don't need to feel very trendy, but I wouldn't say that it hurts either Until I find that, the red skinnies will be quite all right.

Unfrumped, your questions are very interesting to me, too. I hope someone in the know responds!

I am glad to hear they are still in also....I intend to wear both my cobalt and green ones this fall-winter.

and I did add patterned burgundy recently...

I have it in my mind that red and cobalt jeans are classic, or can be styled to be classic. I think it's because I saw them on The Vivienne Files, and I think the clothes and combinations shown there are very timeless and classic. I see a lot of looks on Pinterest that still seem stylish to me:

I am tempted to dye my red skinnies burgundy, though!
