Ask Angie: AE denim jacket

I'm still thinking about returning the other denim jacket. Now I've seen that you recommended the AE denim jacket for petites and say that it is really cropped and that's just what I want. I've seen that I could order there without a problem and the price is great too, but returning would be rather expensive I fear. Would you say it would be worth the effort? How short is the jacket? And it seems like the sizing is off too, would I need to order a bigger size?

Those are good questions, Astrid. (I am no help here, unfortunately.) I am curious about the AE jacket due to the petite angle, and because I like the design. My issue, definitely not yours, is whether their larger petite size would fit me.

You also have the option to click on the International Size Chart link. It has German sizes. And if that's still not reassuring, to me it would be worth it to get a real-time chat or else an email response from someone at the company who can give you detailed measurements. I've done it a few times and it's really helpful. You just have to convert it into metric, but you will be much better prepared to make your decision to purchase.

For what it's worth, I bought one of these today. I'm 5'1" and about 118 lbs. My chest measures 35 inches and the sizing chart says I would need a medium, but the small fits great. I don't know if I could quite button all the buttons, but I wouldn't ever button them anyway. The sleeves are too long but again, I'm going to roll them anyway so it doesn't matter. The jacket hits me right at my waist and should be perfect with dresses.

I was wrong... I can button the buttons just fine. And the sleeves are long enough on me that I'm going to have to shorten them to be able to roll them to a spot that looks good. LOL But I have short arms.

Thanks for your elaborate answer, Mochi! Thanks to you Brenda too. Unfortunately I've just seen that the shipping cost would be astronomical, so I'll have to pass on this one. I'm keeping the other denim jacket I've posted about anyway.

Brenda is very petite so that's a good gauge, Astrid. Of course, this is NOT a petite sized garment so the sleeves will be regular length. They run quite small, so you might need to size up.

Angie, I'm really interested in this denim jacket but not sure what size to get? I'm usually a size 4 for tops/coats and 4-6 for bottoms, bust 35 inches, waist 31 inches, 5'5" and 128 lb. According to their size chart I'm in between a small and medium.
