Article on the Power of Apparel

For me the stand out thing was: How have i not noticed that Michael Kors has been wearing practically the same thing for 8 seasons?! I guess i'm always looking at Heidi and Nina's clothes and focusing more on what comes out of Michael Kors's mouth (he's so funny to me lol).

But to answer your question, I think i do in a way. When not taking the time to outfit plan it's easy to fall back on what you already know works. But i also tend to get bored fairly easy so doing this too often in turn encourages me to outfit plan.

Tim Gunn has also admitted to wearing the same thing over and over, to the point where his elderly mother has told him to get some style ! Carolina Herrera also wears a lot of the same ( white shirts, pencil skirts).

I used to have a uniform, now I am pushing the boundaries a bit more. Like Nicole, though, when I am frazzled, I take comfort in the same formula. I also tend to have a uniform for special events or entertaining at home.

My mother always says she sees me as a jeans and a shirt person because that is what I always wear. I tried wearing sheath dresses but now I have 5 black sleeveless ones so that has become a 2nd uniform

Very interesting article!

I think I do have a sort of uniform - or at least I have a very narrow range of things I have decided work for my body. When I find a style I really like - something that fits or shoes that are comfortable - I always want to buy that thing in two colors, if possible.

In part, I think this is laziness. I really don't care about trends. I find trying to keep up with trends overwhelming and confusing. I do wish I had better "style," though.

Actually, I would like to refine my "uniform" even more - but upgrade it with better quality and fit!

Definitely but I'm trying to develop some new variations. Tara hit the nail on the head for me. I wear what works and tweak an accessory or the footwear--I'm basically lazy and find trends overwhelming.

I think hubby would enjoy me having a uniform so he wouldn't have to wait for me to decide what to wear. Hee-hee!

I think I would get bored wearing the same formula every day. I luv the creativity in remixing my wardrobe and trying out various styles.

I do have one formula for bloated days: jeans and structured jacket/blouse. : )

I have often thought I uniform would sure save me a lot of time, but I am with AJ--I get bored. I like to change my style based on my mood, the moon-phase, who knows what.

I actually thought the whole thing in the article about Steve Jobs trying to subsume himself to the Apple collective was baloney. He is an icon, and his uniform is his signature.

My uniform in autumn, winter, spring and cold summer days is a red fleece cardigan. I made the vest about a year ago and since I have lost weight now it is too large. As soon as I have plenty of replacing more stylish cardigans and jackets it will be binned.

What a great article. I wonder if Tabatha Coffey's all black style would be considered a uniform? She's always in all black, but varies the look with different shapes and textures.
