Article about Urban Outfitters copying small designers

I just saw this article:

about Urban Outfitters (and Anthropologie) copying from independent designers on Etsy. I know that in fashion people copy each other's ideas all the time, but for a big company to take ideas from small businesses seems a bit much.

What do you think?

Before I comment, I had to post this to my facebook page -- that so pees me off. Suspected it before but good to have proof in print. I was always suspicious of those stores for some reason.

Despicable. My warmth toward UO has significantly cooled. And you know that this isn't random at all--they probably have a whole department of employees whose job is to scour the Interwebs looking for people to steal from!

So slimy! Would it be so hard for them to cut a deal with the designers and stock the real items?? I don't think I'll be buying from UO any time soon. :T

terrible! I'm really upset that I just ordered some stuff from UO yesterday. Makes me regret a lot of Anthro/UO purchases.

Sarah, I know just what you mean! I'm thinking about not buying any more from Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, or Free People (all the same company).

I wish I had a list of more-ethical retailers to shop at. Anyone heard of such a thing?

We keep our eyes on the HRC (human rights campaign) list of companies to avoid, http://www.hrc.org/buyersguide.....egory=1219
but this is more for human rights, less for the rest of their ethical standpoint. It's a start!
