Art Deco Print, and (GASP!) a Ruffle on an Apple Body Type

This is what I wore to work today (10.24.12). I really think this outfit works for the apple body type especially for a full bust. The linear ruffle down the center of the blouse creates a nice long line. Who knew a ruffle of all things could work with a full bust?! When I bought this blouse 2 months ago the ruffle almost caused me to leave it at the store, but my mother always said try everything on. So, I thought trying the thing on was low commitment enough. In further praise of this blouse there is a bit of elastic at the natural waist on the back which pulls the fabric in creating a nice definition with no effort on my part. One last detail on this blouse that might not come through on the pictures is that the hem is rounded which does wonders for those of you who want to look polished when your blouse is untucked.

The print on the skirt brings the eye downward along with the violet suede heels.

In addition to my necklace I added a gold cuff. I also wear a watch daily or else I feel lost. I thought I would be over accessorized but it looked OK. (feel free to disagree)

My goal was to keep the eye moving and I think I achieved that. So all of you adorable apples out there what do you think?

Mochi -- You are right the necklace plays very nicely with the skirt. Admittedly that was not what I was thinking when I put it on.

Victoria -- We are in the same club! I really have to fight the urge to put on one more shiny blingy thing before walking out the door.

Shiny -- The skirt is from Target -- Mossimo to be exact and very well made for $22.99. I think you might be able to find it in store rather than online. The only thing I could pull up on Target's website was the link below which is the exact same cut but not the same color.

I love this outfit! The print on the skirt is really great. I usually have trouble with small prints, but this one practically looks like a textured fabric. I might try to go hunt one down for myself!

That top is great, and I think you will be able to do a lot with it. I am trying to be better about trying things on. My last THREE purchases were all things I would never give a second look. But, I did, and now I have three garments in totally new to me colors and styles that are the stars of my closet!

Wow, gorgeous! i have kind of same ruffled top in taupe (but with a V neck, body is soft tee fabrik, but ruffle is chifon:-)which I love! So flaterring! Suede pumps are making all the outfit! Love this!
