Argh! My pants fell apart! - YouLookFab Forum

(Sorry, just need to rant for a moment...)

I had left my apartment this morning and was about a block away when I looked down and noticed a big hole developing in the inner thigh of my slouchy silk pants... needless to say, I had to go home and change. When I got there, I noticed that in addition to the big hole, there were also a ton of little holes and frayed spots all along the inside thigh and crotch seams. What the...?

I should mention that these are pretty new and have been worn maybe 4 times and washed once or twice. Unacceptable!

What I really want to know now is if this is a common problem with silk pants? I do have fuller thighs, so any pants will rub together, but these were pretty loose and baggy and by no means stretching or anything. It looks like the fabric on these is fraying, not at the seams themselves (so it's not a problem with the seams not being finished properly or something) but next to the seams.

*sigh.*... I did so love wearing these. And I'd love to get some more silk pants, but now I am scared!

Definitely sounds like faulty material to me....if you washed them/dry cleaned according to the instructions I would call the store where you purchased them and ask to speak to the manager and see if you can get a refund/store credit. I had a similar problem with a pair of Diane Gilman pants I bought yrs ago, so I feel your pain! Good luck!

That sucks!
Because silk threads are so thin, I think they do tend to fray pretty easily.
Hopefully, you got them at Nordie's and can get a refund.

Thanks for the sympathy, ladies. At least I realized I was wearing pants with holes within sight of home, so I could go back and change!

The pants are from Anthro, and I got them on super sale a little while ago, so I will not really be too fussed if I can't return them. Will try this weekend though. I'm more annoyed because I really liked them, and I am the type who keeps her clothes forever; now I am scared to buy more silk pants!

ETA: Just called the store, and they said they'd refund me if I brought the pants in. Yay.

Good I'm glad they are refunding you for the pants. A store that charges that much of a premium should have very high quality, and I'm glad they are standing behind that expectation by taking back faulty merchandise.
