Yes, this pair from Loft (I have them on right now, actually!) They're a non-skinny fit, but not loose, either. I'm wearing them with booties and a chunky cable knit sweater today. I LOVE them!

I also have a pair of plaid skinnies from last year, but can't quite button them up anymore so I'm giving them a break. I prefer a non-skinny silhouette and feel these days. It's nice not to be constricted!

Angie - I know. We don't have quite the base of fashion forward or contemporary mid-price retailers that you do: like Zara, The Loft, Limited, Ann Taylor, J Crew etc - well some of them are in Canada, but only a very few in the biggest cities. I suspect plaid pants are in lots of the junior and fast-fashion stores like F21 , H & M etc. Something like a plaid pant needs to be well made and of good quality fabric in order to look good - and I 'm not a huge fan of the cheap and cheerful stores - I can't cope

I'm wearing these skinny jeans below. I also was on a hunt for awhile before finding these thrifting, and the only places I saw plaid jeans (as opposed to leggings, or houndstooth classic trousers or something) at retail was briefly at Nordstrom, and then when those same pieces moved to Nordstrom rack (the Jolt and Kut from Kloth pants, and another juniors brand I forget). I think more might have been at retail in general last winter? That's what one SA said. I saw a few plaid leggings at the fast fashion stores, and skirts, but not pants.

Nope. But I love the look on others! I'd rather not succumb just yet, because right now I don't need another item in my wardrobe that would be a challenge for me to style. I have lots of statement tops I want to get more wear out of.

I haven't tried any. I don't consider my thighs as one of my better features -sigh. I feel like plaid would be pointing a neon sign at them. But then, YLF has me questioning all my preconceived ideas.

Suz, i think the pants you linked to are the pants I have. Thank you for sharing your outfits. I think I have a wardrobe gap in that I don't have basic tops to go with these. Yours look great!

I just ordered two pair from the pendleton catalog. I had said earlier that I was looking for bl/ wh glen plaid and black watch trousers. Well, I found the glen plaid with a slightly flared leg and the tartan is not bl. Watch, they call it princess mary but it has the black watch colors plus red and royal blue. They have a slim leg. I know they'll fit because I have other Pendletons. I'm not sure what the glen plaid will go with, ( everything!) I have an outfit in mind for the tartan pants, black cashmere t neck, black velvet blazer, and black suede cole haan smoking slippers with royal piping around the edge. Can't wait to get them!

I've worn my red ones with grey and black options as well as with a chambray shirt... The one below with my faux fur vest is a favorite as well... I have a few pairs of print pants including houndstooth and really love them...

It's even possible to do a bit of pattern mixing with these I find, if you are careful about it. So "basic" is not necessarily a requirement. It does help if you pick a fairly classic or simple style up top, but even there you can probably find lots of exceptions that would work. Just not for my personal style, I suspect.

I have the Jolt plaid pants from Nordstrom -- juniors dept, surprisingly enough -- and I love them! See pics below for some of my stylings. I have been pleasantly surprised at how well they work with my wardrobe and how versatile they are.

Like Sarah mentions, the last thing I need is a high contrast pattern on my big thighs, but if I keep the plaid dark and low-contrast and the fit is not tight, I can get away with it. I would love to wear bold plaid pants, but it's just not a great look on me. I looked for those dark Kut ones that Suz has, but they are apparently gone from retail, as are the Jolts. As popular as plaid is right now, I'm a little surprised we're not seeing more out there. I do have black and grey houndstooth jeans from a couple of years ago that are also fun for just a hint of pattern.

I am a sucker for plaid pants, but it is so rare that I can find a pair that fits my thick legs. I absolutely adore the pants posted here, especially the yellow plaid Angie posted. LOVE. Rabbit's plaid jeans are also fab, and I love the window-pane print pants, too (not exactly plaid, but still so fun). Mine are a little more predictable - a total '80's look, but I love them.

Oh, and because mine are skinny (I wish they were not, but I loved them anyway), I wear them with black tunic length sweaters and tops.

I do! Don't have any "hectic" plaid though.
Lisa, Banana Republic and Gap are good sources and also Express.
Pic 4 is Express shadow plaid with red- the same ones Inge was modelling last week.
I think that very subtle plaid (like glen in pic 3) is very easy to wear does not matter what your body type.

I recently bought the Kut from the Kloth ones that Suz and Una have. I've worn them twice and need to trot them out more. They are a fun addition.They're skinny (I did not size up) and I wore them with a button down shirt, and with an oversized sweater.

Not yet, but I am loving the resurgence of certain aspects of 90s grunge!

I really want to try the Kut from the Kloth ones. I've found that brand to be very forgiving on my postpartum figure.

No, not a plaid pant wearer or a huge fan. It seems North Americans enjoy them more than Australians, as the only place I ever see them here, is very occasionally on the golf course. Come to think of it I didn't see plaid pants in Italy, France or Germany when we were there earlier this year either. I do like Angie's yellow plaid pants ....they are unique, fun and flattering....and Sveta looks good in hers as she is so tall, but they are the exception for me unless the plaid is very subtle and small. Conversely I do like a plaid scarf and some jackets depending on the colour and print size.
