I'm reading a book called Apartment Therapy. It's an eight week program to get your house in order. One of the ideas is that people fall under warm or cool. Warm people have too much clutter, too many things, an overload of color. Cool people don't have enough in their homes, not enough color, they might not hang curtains or buy flowers.
I thought this might carry over to fashion also. In some areas of my life I'm warm, but in fashion I'm cool. If I had a downfall when I started at YLF it was probably that I didn't pay enough attention to accessories or have a big enough wardrobe. I like things "clean lined and simple", but I have to be careful not to turn that into boring and predictable! I don't like clothes shopping (although I'm getting over that, ha ha). Strong colors don't usually resonate with me, but I'm learning that using them in small doses is a good way to wake up my neutral wardrobe.
Does the idea of warm or cool make sense in your own style evolution?
