...and do you know why? I don't mean physically comfortable. I've got both comfy skirts and comfy pants. But I'm far more psychologically comfortable in pants, and I think I've figured out why. I sit cross legged all the time. It struck me yesterday at taekwondo. I go twice a week to watch my daughter learn to kick and punch. The parents can either sit on chairs in the viewing area, or on the mat along the side with your back up against the wall. Given this kind of choice, I'll always choose the floor, and sit criss-cross. And on a chair, I'll often pull up one leg so my ankle is on the chair. And with a skirt, you can't really do either of those things!
I always thought I preferred pants because I mostly wore jeans growing up, and that might have something to do with it, but I'm wondering if it's more that constantly wearing jeans developed my sitting habits, so now I feel constrained in a skirt.
I still wear skirts, but mostly when I'm going out to dinner or to a movie, or somewhere that I can't sit on the floor like a child.
