Are these weird? ETA update

I always seem to have a soft spot for shoes that are borderline weird/frumpy/so-ugly-they're-cute. I tried these on at lunch time today and they were so comfy and quirky that I bought them. The SA said that theya re one of their most popular lines but I don't think I've seen them on anyone. Do you think they are weird? Ok to wear in publlic? Ugly?

The style of the wedge and sole remind me of Fly London footwear. I don't think these are weird, Susie, fun with the grey "textured" upper. I say wear them and have fun with them

Very much like Fly London. I think they are an acquired taste like Fluevogs. Fun and quirky!

Not weird. They look like Bernie Mev. Bernie Mev makes several styles with the woven look, lots of different sole styles, and colors. there is a small shop not far from me that sells them, and Nordstrums has some Bernie Mev's on their web site. Like Birks there are others making similar ones. I had ordered some similar a bit less expensive from DSW, but they were a bit scratchy so took them back, but a friend bought another brand with a little lower heel,and loves them--very comfy. With the turn for comfy shoes, I think all these really comfy type shoes are going to be big!

Yes, they are Bernie Mev, a new to me brand. They had quite a few different styles and a number of colors. I considered the black but I preferred the contrast of the silver to the black sole.

I also haven't ever seen anyone wearing this style of shoe, although I've seen them for sale. To be honest, I don't *understand* their woven nature.

rachy, someone else might know more than me about the design, but my guess is that the woven fabric adds some interest and helps them conform to your foot while remaining very light weight. The soles have memory foam so they are well cushioned.

I bought a lower heeled silver grey version a few months ago. Since the weather started warming up, I have been living in them and constantly get complimented on the weave and colour combination. From the number of pairs I have seen on other women, I would say they are a popular choice in Vancouver. The cushion sole is quite supportive and I can easily wear them all day. Needless to say, they are on the packing list for my trip to NY in September!

Did you buy them at Loris Shoes? I was just looking at that website the other day. Lots of very interesting brands.

I have them in mind for late fall as I am giving up ballet flats. I think they will be a lot better for lots of walking, and be very versatile, for casual wear. The two two ladies I know who have them wear them for comfort more than for style.

Viva, I bought them at a local store that had a good selection of styles. (I just added the link for better photos).

Always trying, hopefully they don't look TOO much like comfort only!

After trying these on again at home, I've decided to return them. I think they need careful styling to make them look deliberately funky vs a comfort shoe. I would probably wear them occasionally but there are other styles that would be more versatile for me. Plus my budget has to stretch for all of the items in my Nordstrom cart

Sounds like you would have had to work quite hard to make them play nice in your wardrobe, so good decision. And yay for more NAS budget;-)

These comfy sandals can be found all over the Lower Mainland area. I saw a great selection at Turner Shoes in South Surrey. So many different colour choices!
