Are these too ladylike for my style goals?

I had found a pair of Kate Spade wedges that I really loved, but had to return because they were too uncomfortable to justify the price. I found these Jeffrey Campbell wedges that were similar so I bought them, but now I'm having second thoughts. If my style goal is to incorporate some more edgy items into my modern classic wardrobe, are these too ladylike for that goal? For reference, picture 2 shows my other lighter colored shoes.

Liz Claiborne (I think?) nude heels - my least favorite, but work fine as a nude pump

New Fidjis (so comfortable!)

What do you think? Should I return these? I feel like I'm in a "return rut" as Angie calls it when it comes to shoes. I'm afraid of commitment!!!

Well I LOVE them! But my style is very ladylike, so take that with a grain of salt! Are they really comfy to wear?

I think that these pair of wedges are quite simliar to your other shoes in terms of colour family and trim - I don't know if they're edgy, but they are different - I'd expect this toe of shoe to go with a flat!

Natalie, they seem comfortable for a high heel, if that makes sense. But I'm sitting at my desk most of they day and not on my feet much, so my tolerance for a heel is kind of high.

If I remember right, you kicked out pumps that hurt your feet.

These have the low vamp/pump front so that makes sense for what you are replacing.

I like the black edging a lot and think it gives them a more interesting edge - not necessarily edgy.

Just how edgy do you want to be with a pump replacement?

Christy, I relate to the return rut! I have returned everything I have bought recently and even today I have things to post for k/r but wonder if I should bother and just return them lol.

I love these shoes and they are not a repetition of any thing you already have. They are classic and feminine so why not wear them with an edgy ensemble? I vote keep:)

I like them, but they're definitely not what comes to mind when I think "edgy". I really love the two Fidjis that MNsara posted, especially the 2nd pair.

Not looking at any other responses, I'm going to say that these are not too ladylike for your style, but they ARE too ladylike for your style goal of edging it up. As your clothing is beautifully classic, these are not going to add the edge factor you wanted, in my humble opinion.

Off to peruse!

I like them, and find their cut actually edgy enough, and would match your wardrobe perfectly, but don't know what's the edgier for a shoe like that,-but I'm here to learn! BTW great collections, thanx for letting us a snake peek:-)

I'm going to vote more edgy as well. These are lovely but you seem to have plenty of this color family, in the more "soft" shoe category.

Hmm...running about 50/50 here! I don't know why I'm having such a tough time making a decision!

Ha! Sara, I actually bought the second pair of Fidjis you linked to in black (although they are more of a charcoal IRL). Just wore them for the first time yesterday!

These are beautiful shoes Christy and they would work with your current style beautifully. However, if you're looking to edge things up a bit, I'm not sure these are the shoes to do it with. Also, you have several shoes in the neutral category so far so am wondering if you might want to add a dash of colour instead?

Ah...Shannon, that is an excellent point. Here are the rest of my shoes (not including boots) and you are absolutely right. I only have one pair of red shoes. Maybe I do need to add a color?

You are VERY ladylike, Christy. Be proud of it! This should not hold you back

Furthermore, edgy does not mean "rough, rugged, studs, UWP and zippers". Edgy just means less mainstream and more fringe - looks that are "on the edge of fashion and not conventional". You can have an edgy bohemian style. An edgy classic style. An edgy arty style. Hope that makes sense.

It's HOW you wear the pieces that makes all the difference.

These shoes are terribly ladylike: they have little bows and a delicate shape. I'll bet they're incredibly useful and versatile, and they look not uncomfortable. You'd have to add your edge with something else...

I, myself, have been trying to beat my addiction to bows. I'd probably force myself to pass on them.

...All depends really. What else is going on in your closet? You have a lot of sandy colors going on with the footwear. Is that on purpose?

I actually think these are both edgy and lady-like. The color and bow give a classic lady-like feel, but the covered wedge is kind of unexpected and stands out. I think they walk the line.

Okay, Angie is right, so the question that raises for me is: what do YOU mean by edge? More RATE, or more couture, or more what? I'm thinking you wanted to toughen things up, but maybe that's not the case?

Thanks Angie for raising an interesting point (and thank you Una for starting a separate thread about "edgy"!). I'm not entirely sure what I want to do. LOL!!! I want to "toughen" up my look, add something unexpected to an everyday suit, not go the conventional route. I don't know that I'm wanting to be "cutting edge" in wearing the newest, latest, fringe trend before everyone else. Any ideas, Angie, for how to describe this change in my style goals if it isn't adding "edge"?

BJ - yes I do have a leather skirt. I guess I was thinking of funkier shoes to jazz up a relatively boring suit. I have the more conservative shoes that work to tone down the leather skirt.
Shannon - cobalt would be fun!!
Rachylou - I probably have so many sandier, lighter colored shoes because it bookends my hair. I have *zero* bows in my wardrobe - these shoes would be my one concession to bows because they really aren't my style at all! I'm okay with these because they are very streamlined, if that makes sense.
Scarlet - I'm thinking they have enough "unexpected" to keep from being too cutesy, which is exactly what I *don't* want.
Una, great question! And obviously in my answer to Angie above, I have no idea what I want!

Christy, I think you and I are a lot alike in our basic style and our style goals. Would you consider something like this leopard patent wedge from JCrew?

I just bought them and I think that they are really fun. They are conservative enough that I feel like they are appropriate for me to wear in professional settings, including meetings with clients, but they add a bit of the unexpected to pinstripes and more conservative outfits. When I pair them with patterns, they make it feel very daring for me. Since we are both blonds, the gold in these really gives them a fun lift and semi-bookends our hair.

Well my first reaction to these shoes is that no, they don't add edge. I like them a lot, but I would not think they take you away from classic and elegant, which you do so well, and into unexpected, which is I guess how I think of edgy. They are very nice shoes though.

I like your Jeffrey Campbell wedges and it was fun seeing your array of neutrals. I also like kcanshop's animal print wedge, from J. Crew, if it's comfortable. I bought a pair of cute flats last year and the leather never really softened up. But, these would work on so many great ways.

Angie's definitions were brilliant: "on the edge of fashion" and "an edgy classic style." These are wonderful descriptions for your style goals.

Well, all I can say as a fellow shoe and heel lover Mrs. Christy: Life is too short to wear shoes that don't make your heart flutter!

I do think these are very pretty shoes, by the way, and you'd probably get a lot of wear out of them. I think that, perhaps, edgy for you in this particular case should be 1) COLOR and/or 2) PRINT (and not animal) 0:)

Christy, I just wanted to chime in and say that I have those J Crew tortoise patent wedges, and I absolutely love them. They seem to go with everything, and they're very comfortable.
Last year I walked all over Paris in them- probably 3 miles one evening, and while they didn't exactly feel like tennis shoes, they did not kill my feet.
I highly recommend them!
