Are these long enough?

Look what came in the mail Angie’s post inspired me to try them on. I’m glad I did, because I’m not sure of the length. I would wear them with my loafers (very flat). Are they long enough/should I keep them?

ETA: my suspicion has been confirmed. I need to exchange them. From now on, please comment in commiseration with my grief.

On the happy side, I snatched these up when I saw them on the website, because I thought they were a rare beast. But now it sounds like there will be a whole herd of them soon enough. I’m sure to find my perfect pair(s) in there somewhere.

Are these the 20€ h&m jeans from the new conscious collection? I've ordered them too in 34 inch length as I've tried on the 32inch in the shop and it was just half an inch too short for full length. But still, I wondered if these are supposed to be ankle length.

So after having researched the archives for ppl last week I would guess they are too short for floor length but look fine if ankle length is what you're after...

To my eye, these are neither here nor there in length -- they're not long enough to be full-length, but they're a bit long to look intentionally ankle-length. What length were you after? Can you try them on with the shoes you intend to wear with them, or at least something similar? I find pants very hard to assess without some kind of footwear.

Joha, I bet they're the same. I don't know the exact price, but that sounds about right and they are from H&M. Label says "mini flares high waist".

Janet, when I'm back home later I can try them with the flat loafers, but the boots and other shoes I'll wear them with still aren't here yet. :/

Full length is definitely what I'm after. I'll have to go look for some 32s.

I think they're too short but I agree it is easier to judge with shoes. It does look like they fit well so you could always crop them if you love them.

Yeah, I'm really picky about length. It comes from a lifetime of jeans hitting me pretty much exactly where these hit you unless a "tall" size is available. Especially if there is any bit of flare. In a straight or skinny, I feel like it's easier to roll or cuff to a decidedly cropped length.

Sorry to hear that these were a miss. I agree with the others that if you are looking for a full length jean, these are too short. You are right to return as you don't want to look like a kid that has had a growth spurt and outgrown their trousers.

ROBIN, I spent too many years as JANET and BIJOU describe to be able to enjoy cropped pants. Ridiculous, I know, but true. I can probably count the intentionally shortish pants I’ve had as an adult on one hand, and that includes my jeans now. But thanks for the suggestion.

3”? I’d better go for the 34s. Joha isn’t taller than me after all, lol. I appreciate your eye, ANGIE, because I would’ve thought one more inch would do it.

Agreeing with the rest, awkward length. Also the one leg is hanging straight and the other sticking out to the side. When the others arrive check to be sure thats not happening. 34 length? Dh needs that, so hard to find!

I just managed to take some pictures of the 34s for reference. First without shoes, then with appropriate heels. I'm 1,74m / 5ft7 with an 0,81/ 32in inseam.

I will need to have them hemmed for flats as heels are not an all day shoe any more. Still a bit hesistant though as the last time the tailor pulled too hard at the legs and they ended up being to short. I'm kind of picky about ppl so they were ruined for me albeit they were just half an inch too short.

How frustrating to have the tailor ruin the thing they’re supposed to be fixing!
Those shoes are great—look like you can wear them with lots of different things. Are they new, or are you that good at keeping white things clean?
I was surprised these were so much too short—my inseam is usually around 31. That little bit makes the difference!
How are you planning to wear them? I’m supposed to be gathering work clothes, especially toppers (did you see my question about structured toppers on the other thread?), but thought I could allow myself these for fun, because of the price and because I love baby bootcuts.

I'm afraid I am horrible at keeping my shoes pristine. 5 minutes after I usually walk out the door for the first time there is a scuff somewere or the heel is damaged or I'm stuck in a downpour. This is why we have RATe, haven't we And these are new ones that I'm breaking in for a few hours at a time, wearing them as houseshoes.

Well, for me these jeans are work clothes. I'm working in an office at the university and the dresscode is fairly relexed. Them beeing black helps too. I usually combine them with a blouse or shirt or maybe a T-Shirt and then I usually wear a scarf and a blazer or a cardigan. The jeans in the outfit pics are shorter straight legs but I would wear the bootcuts similarly....

Right know I'm pondering the question of which shoes to take to the tailor because the 32s were only half an inch to short. A friend of mine couldnt see anything wrong with the lenght but I'm afraid that while I've usually got a fair amount of tolerance for RATE, PPL doesn't count. This has to be fairly perfect and I'm getting the 34s shortened.

Off to look for the structured top question....

Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to send you hunting. You had said that you are moving towards softer top pieces, away from structured toppers. That got my attention because I’ve been thinking I need to add structured toppers. So the question was if this shift you’re making is just you, or if you think it’s happening across the country. I know Berlin has its own style, but I’m not sure if we will stay here.

Oh, I See. No, this is just me at the moment. A friend of mine is going in the opposite direction and wants to add more structured things. Thinking about it - while some trends do catch on quickly here, in the grand scheme of things we are 1 or sometimes 2 years behind trendwise. while cities like Berlin or Hamburg or ones with big universities are quite fashionable, the smaller cities, let alone the countryside, are happily going along with same old same old IMHO. Of course I'm exaggerating a lot here, but you get the idea...

At the moment, here is one major German trend from the 90s that I'm afraid is coming back. Have you ever heard of "Buffalos"? *Shakes Head in disblief*

But back to our Topic - one would need really long inseams for PPL in those....

Thanks! I’m not sure yet exactly what kind of office I’ll be in, but it’s good to learn a little about trends. I doubt I’d buy anything in Berlin that’s so edgy that people in Bonn would be surprised at it. Otoh, my son, who’s just learning German, might have trouble getting “Schrippen” in the hinterlands. He corrected me recently when I said “Brötchen“, lol, but the last laugh may be on him

That looks more like a roller skate than a shoe. If I show up wearing them, please start an intervention.
