They are very, very cool. Keep in mind though, there are a lot of coated jeans out now at a variety of price points. I ended up buying a pair with very simple skinny jean treatment, and no extra trendy touches like zippers, etc. As much as love hardware, I think the simple treatment makes them a bit more versatile. I wore them out for casal dinner last night with heeled booties, a tee and scarf, but I could also dress them more up or down.
I tried on at least a dozen coated jeans before buying the pair I chose, and some are stiffer than others. The ones I got are just a bit on the stiff side, but they were the most flattering on me of all I tried, and I actually felt them loosen and soften as I wore them for just a few hours.
I would think about what you have to wear with the jeans and where/how you would wear them. I have one pair of skinnies with zippers on the lower leg/ankle, and they fit in cowboy boots, but are uncomfortable in other slimmer-cut tall boots. Also, is the zippered treatment combined with the coated finish part of your style moving forward? It's a lot of trend in one garment.
Lastly, I'll pass along some advice Angie gave me on coated jeans -- don't be afraid to go up a size. Many of them are cut very slim and don't have a lot of give. I found them very tricky, size wise, but I also have a challenging build for skinny jeans (big thighs and hips, no booty, slim waist, and long inseam) so YMMV. You're much slimmer than I am so you may find it much easier to find the perfect fit!
