Diana, I saw those Danskos (leopard ones)in the pic below on the Dansko site a while back and was excited that these might be a cute loafer for those of us who have foot limitations. I'm always hopeful to be able to make Danskos fashionable since they work on my feet. I do find they often look different in person than online. I think they may be worth a try.

The Earthies linked look really promising. Heard rave reviews from another retail gal about the brand.

EDIT: If your Danskos are the one in the pic above, they look way better on the foot and would be worth a try!

I agree with Rae that they look a lot better on in the pic above. I also think my vote was skewed by the black one. So, I am more hopeful about them than I was initially.

The printed danskos look good enough in the print to make it worth a try on your feet. I'm drawn to the calf hair pair. I think the smooth black leather just does them in.

Would you wear these with skirts and dresses and tights? Or would they be a jeans and pants only shoe?

Jeanie, thank you for the pic! They do look much better in the print on the foot. And I do really like the snake print - haven't seen many dark snake prints around.

Rae, I've heard that Earthies have really high arches. They're likely to be too high arched for my flat feet, and possibly too deep as well. But I agree they look good!

Traci, I'd be open to wearing them with anything, although I would have to see how well secret socks do under them. I'd really love to wear them with a bit of bare ankle.

Yeah, the black ones look decidedly unfab to my eye, but the patterned ones, well...maybe? I'd have to see them on.

Flat shoes with this kind of sole are very tricky. The devil is in the details, and one slight difference between one cut and another seems to be all it takes to cross over the line to frumpville. Years ago I had an otherwise adorable pair of green loafers but I couldn't get past the crepey sole and finally gave them away.

Ok, after seeing it in this last picture, I think the printed version could work.

And I understand you so, so well. There is a reason I wear canvas sneakers in Spring and Fall. I have no actual shoes that work for my feet, except for a pair of too flat Mary Janes and dressy mary janes that are not good for walking. And I don't like the slipper/loafer trend since my love for ballet flats comes from a very, very, very long time and I'm not sure it will ever fade. Shame on me...

I think you should try them! I totally see why you want to show a bit more skin - I have the same feelings when I wear higher vamped shoes. I do think one more roll would help, but brrrrrr!

I do not care for ballet flats and there is no way they would stay on my feet anyway.

By the way, I believe Earthies are fairly wide. I like my Riekers, but they have a very thin sole. I love the picture you pinned with the blazer. If I could find all of those pieces I would be one happy camper!

I'm not sure about the thickness of the sole, but Munro America makes a slipper flat. They aren't really flat; they just look that way because the heel is hidden. Munro comes in a variety of widths, and I believe the heels are made on a separate last so they run narrower at the heel than most brands.

Try the Danskos; nothing ventured. . . but I do think they look better in profile like the pic than straight on.

I think those danskos do have some possibilities....
I did see these two animal print slipper/loafers with more cushioning sole. might fit an insert

Rebekah, thanks for the links. I like the SW ones but I don't like that they are synthetic.

Donna, I had forgotten about Munro with their narrower heels.

I found these two styles that look promising:

(in the pindot or brown patent)

(in black patent)

Do you know how their arch support is? The thing about Danskos is that they have sufficient arch support on their own, so I wouldn't have to figure out if an orthotic would fit.

I don't think the first Munros are any better looking than the Danskos. But the second Munros in black patent look a lot more like a smoking slipper! Very cute, if the sole is thick enough for you.

I'm going to go across the street and lunch and see if they have these in the store.

Rae, I wish those second Munros came in animal print.

ETA: They do! Nordies has many more colors, including a bunch on sale.

Una, let me know what you think if you try them!

I will! I don't want them myself but I'm always willing to shoe shop for a YLF buddy!

Fingers crossed for you! Lots of the Munros are really cute. (I also have feet that must be obeyed.)

Have you ever tried a Munro on before? The booties that were on sale at NAS were too big in the heel for me. I had tried them in a narrow size too. Front was too narrow and heel too big.

If you do end up trying them please let us know!

Mtgirl, that's discouraging to know about the Munros... I thought their thing was that they made their shoes on lasts with wider fronts and narrower heels. I haven't tried one on in ages, and even then it was a boot where I don't care about heel slippage. I would need a medium for the bunion in front.

Anyway, I think I am going to order the danskos and one of the sale colors of the Munro Jerrie. Hope one of them works out.
