Are these boots for me?

Ack, I'm so needy today! : )

Bought these boots. The lace-ups really made the fit perfect for my calves. There's a full side zip.

Please do not look too closely at the stylings...I was just throwing things on to see how well these boots would go with my skirts/dresses. I'm aiming for a casual dressy look. Do these suede wedge boots hit the mark?

Very cute! Question: on the inside of your right ankle the boot appears to cave in a little. Is this just the camera angle and if not does it bother you? Everything else looks great!

So these boots do not come off as clompy, combat-ish?

I was originally looking for a very dark brown...does this color look fine with darker bottoms?

I like them! And I think they are good with the more casual options. I don't love them with the second outfit but with the others they look great.

Sigh. I know how difficult the boot hunt has been for you, AJ, but I'm not in love with these -- at least not with skirts and dresses. The shape of the toe does look a bit ...I don't know. Clompy? On the other hand, if they're filling a huge NEED vs. a fashion desire (i.e. you need boots to keep you warm and these are the only ones that fit you can find), well, perhaps that's okay?

The fit is great and like the boots in general. I lthink they work with #4, but the shape of the toe and the brown suede read more casual/pant boot to me in general. With a more refined toe, a little heel, or in black, these would skew a bit dressier. Now, I'm with Suz -- sometimes we need a serious boot for practical reasons. If so, you likely have other combinations in your closet that would work, too. You are amazing in how well you style your items!

You know what's interesting to me is how I prefer them with your straight-skirted stylings in photos 4 and 5 over 1 and 2. If they fit your casual wear needs, I say go for it.

What is the brand? I own a similar pair that I think Steve Madden. I like them but they are pretty. RATE. Also not sure of the ankle situation?

If the ankle is okay, then I don't think they are clompy. The slim calf fit is great and good for skirts. I like them best balanced with a casual jacket.

I cannot agree with the statement these boots suit skirt or dresses at all. It looks like you'd like to mix two opposite styles into one, but this does not work. Boots and dress-styled outfits are good if separate.

AJ, so good to see you!

I think you've done a good job mixing the "earthy" vibe of these boots with more modern pieces in #4 and #5. The problem with this kind of boot is that you do have to be careful that they don't start looking like part of a costume. Suede plus warm brown plus lace-up plus the shape is a whole lot of earthy. Nothing wrong with that in and of itself, it's just something to be aware when you create outfits -- which I think you've done here.

How do the boots fit with your current style goals?

I had a colleague at work who used to pair similar boots with a midi-length, fringe-trimmed skirt and kind of a poncho top, all in earthy colors and a Southwestern pattern. The first time I saw that outifit, I thought my school was having some theme day that I wasn't aware of, like "Dances with Wolves", or "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman." You seem to be balancing this well and I don't get a costume feel from any of these combinations.

Thanks everyone for chiming in. I'm going to return them and keep looking. Even though the fit on the calves is perfect, the warm brown and the suede material was not what I was looking for and I should hold out for PPP. Plus they are probably a half size too big.

<sigh> The hunt continues.
