Are the women in your every day life wearing BF's?

I was struck in Angie's blog post by her use of the word mainstream to describe the boyfriend jean trend. Where I live, in a big city, I don't see other people wearing this style, even though I see it available in stores. I work on a campus so you'd think the students would adopt new fashions faster than the general populace, but my impression of the female student body is that they skew very heavily to very body con. Maybe I need to go visit a hip part of town and see what's going on there.

I'm so glad you asked this question, Scarlet, because I've been wondering where are the other BFs are IRL. I mostly see women wearing skinnies. But I can't say that I live in a hip part of town!

Scarlet I have been thinking the same thing about where I live. I see skinnies a lot - really haven't seen boyfriends. And yet I do see some other new trends - looser patterned pants for instance.

There are only 2-3 stores in my neck of woods that stock the BF style! The SAs usually look at me baffled when I ask them for BF jeans. Like I am asking for a boyfriend o_O. Nope not seen on women here either, not even bootcuts ... But I see loads of super skinnies.

I haven't seen pajama jeans yet and if I find one I will most probably be the first one sporting it.

I am starting to see the rolled jeans look, but not the super loose BFs. They tend to be a trimmer fit.

I don't think I ever see BF's, just lots of skinnies on younger women and loose harem style pants on older women.

Like Laura, I am not seeing the super loose jeans. Quite a few rolled jeans, both skinnies and wider legs.

Seeing a lot of these on the street. Not always appealingly styled, but the elements and effort are recognizable.

Same thing here and I live near a very large University. I guess that's partly why I haven't jumped on the BF wagon except to actually wear my hubs jeans around the house.

I'm staying in SA and the only trends i see are skinnies and rolled up jeans. I doubt BF jeans will ever be popular ! I prefer a skinny jeans any day

Nope, I don't see boyfriend jeans in my neck of the woods either (middle of the UK). I don't mine one bit as it means I'm original and unique

I'm so stuck at home working that it's sad I can't really answer this. On my few times venturing out, I still see skinnies more than anything but definitely some BFs on younger women. And DD (22) has been wearing BFs for a year or so. Partial answer?

I don't see them IRL either, Scarlet. That said I think my own two pairs look more like slouchy skinnies on me - I like that look and don't really wear them rolled in the typical BF style either. Maybe everyone sizes down when they buy them?

Same here in Italy, hardly any boyfriend style jeans around, although all Italian fashion bloggers sport them. I live in a mid-sized city about 45 miles south of Rome. I'm all for giving them another chance for myself, so I went to the store where I normally buy my denim, and they had zilch. I spotted a pair of unmistakable BF's in the local H&M window while I was rushing past it, so maybe I will check those out

I am seeing rolled jeans, but I don't think they are "boyfriend" cut as not enough slouch or bagginess. They are more available in the stores....but.

Seeing mostly skinnies here in the DC suburbs. My daughter lives/works in NYC and she wears skinnies not BF's. Maybe the rolled up styles will be seen more when the weather is warmer.

I still see mostly skinnies in my small Canadian city, but BFs are selling, and part of the reason for the preponderance of skinnies at the moment is our weather; we just had another snowstorm and skinnies tuck into boots much better.

I think I'll see more BFs once the weather improves and people can wear them cuffed with a bit of skin showing.

But regardless, my eye has totally adjusted to the look, and I prefer it to sausage casing skinny jeans on myself and others. I have three pairs of BFs and can't wait for warmer weather to be able to wear them with the type of footwear I prefer.

No… not too many BF's seen around here. (Mostly just on me.) I am surprised as it is a college town. The students are all in skinnies with boots or in sweats and sneakers. The regular town folk wear skinnies (uniform for teens and 20-somethings), boot cuts and plenty of old-style mom/dad jeans (worn with big white athletic shoes). We will see if this changes when the warmer weather arrives. I saw a few cuffed/rolled styles last summer, but nothing I would classify as boyfriend style.

Living in L.A, I definitely see the BF jeans happening --but I would expect that both in terms of L.A being fashion forward and our weather being conducive to BF jeans year round.

That said, I still see waaaaay more skinnies round here than BF style. I think maybe it's because skinnies would be considered more traditionally figure flattering (esp. with the young fashionistas in LA) whereas the BF style means you're willing to toss your vanity out the window for comfort (I don't care if my butt looks a little droopy on occasion in some of my BF styles because it is soooo comfy). Maybe that kind of confidence comes more with age, hence the lack of them in some college towns? Dunno. Just speculating that could be the case.

Not much around here in the mid-Atlantic that I've seen. Skinnies still prevail. Young hipsters and MICA students are wearing high-waisted styles (with crop tops, yes), and bootcuts and straight legs seem to be coming back around. I do see plenty of rolled and cuffed hems on jeans. I saw a young woman yesterday wearing really baggy jeans but the rest of the look made me wonder how intentional the style was. I still feel a little self-conscious in BFs because they seem a little ahead of the curve here (and also because they are not the most conventionally flattering thing on my body), but I suspect that warmer weather will bring out looser denim styles.

I don't see them in IRL either. On occasion I might see a "nod" to BF jeans at the mall or on the street.

No BF in my neck of woods, either(neither in shops yet)!

My DD is 16,5 and she doesn't want to change her jean's style (from jeggings/skinnies) for the life of her. She said nobody wears BF yet...and she doesn't want to look"slopy"...so I guess it's about getting used to this new "fashionable sloppy" look.

The fluid/oversized tops/toppers were much more and quicklier assimilated here, by teenagers, too.

But I am so sorry for this heaviness! I really want some BF's for spring, as I know they would be much comfortable and more stylish(rolled up) for my bigger thighs than straight legs or skinnies!:-)

I haven't seen any yet in my area, skinnies tucked into boots or leggings with boots is the dominant look right now. I am hoping to see more BF's when the weather changes. At work, I'm the only one sporting BF's.

Scarlet, I also work on a campus, and no -- I haven't seen boyfriends all winter either. I don't see them on the faculty or staff either, but you see them all over trend reports. I think my campus is probably like yours, skinny jeans, leggings, lots of boots and as soon as warm weather hits, shorts cut as short as they can wear them and flip flops. We have a very scant spring - but I'm going to keep my eye out.

Around town, I see a few ladies with boyfriend crops, but always worn with flip flops or Chucks.

So....maybe it's just me who can't wait to wear mine with my heels! Makes me unique around here, so I'll take it :).

I go to art school. Tons of women wearing boyfriend jeans on campus. (Also, men wearing cropped, skinny pants with oxfords). Maybe it depends on the type of university!
