It's interesting how different people's experiences of these are! Mine are the snakeskin version. In the smallest of my two sizes, they are still on the long side for my foot. (In contrast, I also own the Sam Edelman Sutton sandals, which, in the LARGER of my two sizes are barely long enough. Go figure!)
I have a high instep. Medium width forefoot and narrow heels. These are plenty wide enough for me. The instep (across the top) was a bit snug on first wear but broke in without any discomfort. On my second or third wear, I did get blisters on the tops of my toes!! I was rushing to teach a class and had to run about half a mile in them. (Yeah, I know. Not really what they are designed for. But.) I was wearing thin socks inside -- I guess the boots were loose enough to move around, which is what caused the blisters. I fixed that with thicker socks and they've caused me no problems since.
The heel is a little on the low side for me but I can wear them all day comfortably. Or at least, I can, theoretically. Not this year in the weather we've been having!
They are great for bookending the light hair, and also for wearing with light bottoms to provide a long leg line. What I find magical is that because of the darker bits, they also bookend a dark top or topper, especially charcoal or black. I like them with black, white, grey, taupe and navy.
