Are my ankle pants too long?

They're hitting below my ankle. Some weird poses for your inspection...

Also, I may be over mixed-media now. This coat is not getting worn. On the other hand, it's way too cold for it.

Ignore please hat, sweater, and one black sock. Going for final constitutional.

Your ankle pants look a bit too long to my eye. I think Angie suggested above the ankle bone... Maybe 2 inches? I love those pants and their subtle pattern.

RL, your cool layered look is Pinterest pin worthy, and the coat is wonderful. Too bad you're not feeling it. I need to see the pants with different footwear to get a better idea. For cold weather, you could do boots over woolly socks for more layering, and not worry about length at all! It is too cold right now for a sliver of skin! Do length adjustments later on, when the weather is warmer.

I think they look too long. I think my ankle pants hit a couple of inches above my ankle.

Oh the dreaded shoe question, lolol! I bought two pairs at Ross for the bakery ($15), and they're quite good for that...but then they were also good for dinner at my lawyer's. So now the dreaded shoe quandary...

Well, I have figured out that I kind of do my own thing on some pant lengths because I like certain length- shoe - vamp looks and proportions on me , and also work around how the pants themselves fit. Plus, some pants keep hanging up on my calves if I hem them shorter.
So these are too short for "ankle" pants and could be hemmed. Or you could wear them as longer skinny pants.

Hmm, I kind of like the length. I think they get too short if you sit down if you go too much shorter.

I would probably shorten them by about one to two inches, but no more. Personally I would wear them with a bootie, so I would want them to meet the boots. I do think Staysfit has a good point about not wanting to overdo the shortening. You look great in this outfit, and so lovely and warm in your jacket.

I think they look like regular length which could be fine depending on the shoes. For ankle pants though I would go a couple of inches shorter. Cute pants!

These look about an inch long for ankle length. Ending just at the ankle bone. If you want crops, then 2 to 4 inches above the ankle bone.

But...I love the coat (though I hear you on mixed media, but still, darn, it looks good on you!) and I love the pants themselves!!

They're either too long or too short, and since they're supposed to be ankle pants that means they probably need to be hemmed. They are otherwise really cute!

I prefer an ankle pant when I see the ankle bone itself, so I would say these are too long. Nice print on them though.

The length looks okay depending upon what shoes you wear, but I think they would look better with about one inch off the bottom.

There's just something about seeing someone's ankle bone that always makes me think of Audrey Hepburn. It's like a fashion reflex.

They're a good length right now for boots, but I think too short for other shoes and too narrow (if I let out the hem). Maybe the thing to do is wait until the weather warms to shorten them.

It depends on the look you want. I really like the look of pants hitting right above the ankle, but I think with trend-blind googles on, your length works, too.

ETA: I wear my jeans at that length in winter.

To me, they just look like regular length skinny pants, any longer and they would start to scrunch over your feet, especially when wearing high vamp shoes. If you want to wear them as ankle pants, I'd shorten them by a couple of inches.

Too long to be ankle pants. But I am more accepting than many of varying pant lengths; it depends on the footwear. I would wear these with ballet flats or relatively low vamped loafers; with oxfords or higher vamps I would roll them up once to get them above the ankle bone. Of course that would reveal the messy underside of the hem on those lovely checked pants (because that's what happens with mine) but I am the Gentlewoman so I just roll with it, messing about with the dogs in the field, Tally Ho and all that.

I think the pants work well with those scuffs but trying them with the shoes you plan to wear would be helpful. Super cute pants, scarf, and coat.

I had the same issue with a pair of pants I bought recently. I wore them with boots during the winter and then shortened them in the spring.

I try not to 'name' or label my clothing pieces (i.e., ANKLE pants). There are full length pants, anything less than full length can fall anywhere up the calf, depending on the cut and fullness of the pant leg. The cut and silhouette of the pants determine the length of the pant leg, first and foremost. Only then does the shoe matching happen, some will look awkward so it's on to the next, or those, or that pair.....

There are so many widths and lengths of pants in style currently, it's nice to have a wardrobe of pants that cover a spectrum of hem lengths. I see nothing wrong with the length as is, but of course you can hem UP to any point that makes your eye happy! Have fun with it!

The thing for me is, I don't consider myself short-legged, but then I have a short torso. And the fact of the matter is, all the pants I buy that are sold as 'ankle' pants hit me like this. I'm wondering, I suppose really, if there's something I don't know.
