Are long maxi skirts still in style?

Are long maxi skirts in style this season (ankle length)? They seemed to be everywhere last year, but I haven't seen them this fall. I have a few that have become closet orphans.

I think maxi skirts and maxi dresses are considered a somewhat classic look whose popularity ebbs and flows in different years. There is not a lot of love for either look here on YLF, but personally I like them. There is something romantic and boho about a long dress/skirt....especially worn in summer or on vacation.

I say go for it if you love it.

While they do not receive a lot of love on this forum, I LOVE them and wear them often especially during the summer months. Judging by the number of women I see sporting them in my area, I'd say they're still in style. Wear what you love and whatever makes you happy

I do agree that they look great for summer, but I am not sure if they are still in style for fall/winter. I saw them in stores everywhere for fall '11, but zero for fall '12.

I have a cobalt blue maxi skirt that I LOVE but I have put it away for Fall and Winter. Somehow it seems like a Spring/Summer item even though it is covered and a deep color.

I think if I saw either of these outfits out and about, I would think they looked good and NOT unseasonal or unfashionable.

I have seen a few people wearing heavy jersey knit type maxi skirts with boots, and have seen lots of the floaty pleated chiffon maxi skirts around but this looks seasonally confused to me. For cold weather I prefer the ones with a straighter, more close-fitting profile, rather than a full skirt. In fact, I recently bought a skirt like this myself (and wore it out to dinner on my birthday last month!).

Honestly, I think they will back in summer.

In my area, the climate tends to keep them away during the fall/winter. Snow and ice don't play we'll with long hems, although some might be more adventurous.

I love the look of them, and I like how cool they are in summer while hiding my pasty white legs!

However, I wouldn't necessarily wear this look, it is too body con for me.

This is a great look if you have a long torso and flat, firm abs (neither of which I have).
