I went out with friends to a chocolate buffet this afternoon - complete sugar overload! It was supposed to be a two hour affair - car, hotel, car, so I dared to wear high heeled pumps that are two hours max. Of course, then a friend insisted we go to the mall afterward, so I ended up for 7 hours in those shoes, walking a lot. I do not need to describe the sorry state of my feet now

While at the mall, we stopped at Arden B, and I have checked out three items I posted here previously: ruffled top, cream straight cords and a tunic. Here are some photos: first one is of the top ans cords in smaller size, second one of cords in bigger size and third one of the tunic.

Ruffle top - I have bought it, it didn't feel too clingy! I can post a better photo tomorrow if needed.

Cords- the cream color is very nice, the cord itself very fine wale and almost non-see through: you can see the pockets, but I had black underwear on and it was barely noticeable. From the material point of view it gets my thumbs up. The cut: the leg opening is probably (estimate) around 13-13.5", and I'd guess that the rise is about 8". Size 4 fit me perfectly everywhere, but it was to clingy to the knees and calves for my taste- I prefer more of a straight line. Size 6 had much better fit in the legs, but is too big around the waist. Overall I like them. If I do not find an alternative pair in the next month, I'd like to get the size 6, and have he waist taken in and the front pockets removed; of course depending on your comments.

Tunic- I am actually considering getting in red ( they did not have that color in the store). I would wear it over white shirt or black turtleneck with dark denim skinnies.

Tanya, I think the cords look good, and the ruffly shirt looks good, too.

I LOVE the wrap tunic thingy on you!! Seriously, that is one of my favorite things I've seen on your body. It just looks so sharp, you could wear it even without layering it. I'm not sure what the red will look like. Can you get both? I love it in black a lot, with that belt is amazing to me. It could partially be because I can NOT wear sleeves like that, and I'm jealous. Hee hee. I hope other people approve too.

Tanya, everything looks great on you as usual, but that tunic is fierce. Love the black with a biker-ish edge (probably the belt). It is 100% flattering.

Tanya, all three things are great! The cords are perfect and I love the wrap dress on you! The red would look great too -- I'm with Ana, get both. The black would be so versatile too.

Thank you ladies! I did not expect such enthusiasm for the tunic.

I think you convinced me that I should get it. Unfortunately, I can not get it in two colors, and I think it's noticeable enough of an item that I would not want to get both black and red anyway. The reason I was thinking of red is that I already have another somewhat similar black one ( defined waist, gathers and pockets):

But I do prefer the black to red very slightly probably because the belt blends in with the black while it stands out with the red. Btw, the belt is removable. So I'd appreciate your help figuring out which color to get. The red one is still not available on the site, but I figure it will be be pretty soon since they have the photo up.

Ana, I would actually wear it both layered and it's own. I was mentioning the layered option only because this week the fall definitely came to MA and sleeveless is not possible here anymore.

I like that black tunic on you (the one you already own). I think this one you've just posted is different enough though that if you got it in black, I think it would be fine. I think I like the textural aspect of the black on black belt too. That's why it's hard for me to picture the red on you. I'm sure either one would be great, though.

The cords are very skinny, but they don't look clingy to me. I think they fit you similarly to how Angie's black jeans fit.

Are they comfortable? My test is to sit down in "skinny" jeans and see how they feel at the knee and calves. Sometimes they feel good standing up, but when I sit down, they dig into the back of my knee and are very uncomfortable. If they don't do this for you, I'd say go for it.

Thanks ladies! Ana, the bigger size ( that needs taking in the waist) was very comfortable on the leg. My clinginess concern is related to the ability to wear them with shorter tops. My hips are wide for my frame and I feel that skinnies that cling to the calf tend to emphasize that. I am kind of hoping to be able to wear them with shorter tops as I mentioned above, for tunics I think they look fine.

The other thing that just occurred to me is what kind of shoes does one wear with skinny cream cords? I'd probably want a small heel or wedge. Black looks too harsh, grey kind of off. Camel? Tan? I guess I am trying to figure out if, in case I get them, I also need to get shoes and tops to go with it, which might be a bit too much.

Hi Tanya - The cream cords look fab on you! I am jealous that you found a pair that works. Angie posted on another thread that there are now cream jeans at WHBM - straight and bootcut. It might be one last option to check out before you decide?

Thanks Laura! I already have cream bootcut jeans. For skinnies ( or idealy straight leg) I would rather go for cords because they are warmer for me.

Red shoes! Love black and cream, but I can understand the harshness thing. What about your purple FS shoes? Grey is an interesting choice, but I'd go with a patent or something to keep it from looking very muddy.

Yes yes yes! I LOVE the Shilo wrap dress! The only thing that was putting me off about it was the color (not really me), but very definitely you! Do you think you might get it when it goes on sale or something? I love the Zerlina wrap dress (one I posted) because the shawl collar and cuffs make it look so cozy. I could imagine wearing it all winter and into the spring here since it doesn't get too cold for dresses. I'm sort of partial to the larger peach and grey print, but do you think that would wash me out?

My FS purple shoes would definitely work, and red probably too. The grey patent wedges might as well. These are all sort of statement shoes ( add a pop of color and all that). I guess I ws more concerned about shoes for situations where I do not want to make any statements with them, because something is going on on the top. In the other words, some kind of a neutral that blends in for a long lean line. Angie was talking about cream snakeskin look in the past and I love that idea, but that would probably be impossible to find. I am sorry if I am sounding obtuse, I am in the middle of cooking my breakfast and my blood sugar is really low, it probably suffered a severe crush after all the chocolate from yesterday.

About the Shilo dress: I will get it if goes to something like 50% off, otherwise it would be hard to justify considering how rarely I would get to wear it. But I am sure in love

I love the idea of snake skin and I think you could find it. I saw a pair of FS flats at Nordies the other day that are snake skin.

Don't you love how we are posting back and forth? Fun!

At the risk of sounding like the most picky, annoying person in the world, I do not want flats. I'd like a smallish 2" heel, a wedge or bootie or something along those lines, because I do not want them to touch the ground ( there's all sorts of oil and stuff here on the ground that's difficult to get out of hems in the wash), and I really liked how the cords looked slightly pulled down over the heel. These are the perfect material, but they are flats unfortunately:

Those shoes would not work. I need closed toes, and would like the snakeskin to be cream, or beige at worst. Boy, I am getting even more picky !

Having a chat on this forum would be like adding a cherry on the top of Angie's amazing chocolate sauce on the top of ice-cream!

Tanya, How about a scrunchie boot, if not in cream or snakeskin, then in camel? (Is "scrunchie boot" actually even a term? Oh well, I'm sure you fellow fashionistas understand). A scruunchie boot would be soooo 80s. Love it!

Ana, I am going to try the cream jean at some point this week too. Not today, because in Chicago we are having our second day of torrential rains, not to complain since you are in Texas, but we got 6.7 inches yesterday alone! I would have to swim to the mall! Let me know if you try the jeans and what you think.

I once had a pair of scrunchies in cream. The top was in cream suede, the bottom in leather, with a low stacked wooden heel. Fab. Sadly cream doesn't last forever and the boots are no longer with me!

A scrunchie boot would be great in a lighter color! I'd still need it to be with a fairly low (max 2.5") chunky heel, or even better wedge. I guess in the ideal world I would be looking for a scream snakeskin scrunchie boot with a 2" wedge heel. Of course, in the real world I would never even get close... But I might find something in tan/camel. Thanks for the idea! You old cream pair sounds delicious!

I will keep an eye out for you for snakeskin scrunchies with a 2-inch wedge heel! First one to find them gets a prize! (We should post this as a separate thread and made it a contest).

Thanks Tanya! Brunch was really fun. We went to a restaurant called Threadgill's, which serves southern food. The brunch was buffet style and they had sweet potato pancakes and grits and bisquits and gravy, french toast and migas and fruit...there was so much food! I had a mimosa, heh heh. And then at 11:00 they had a live band that played bluegrass music, they were really good.

Sorry those shoes won't work out. Hmm.....maybe you could go with a light tan, which is what you were thinking. I still think a light grey would go more with your style than tan though. What about cream? I know it's kind of matchy, but if you went with a cream patent, that might be nice. What about these?

I am glad you had a great brunch Ana! I am not familiar with southern food at all, but it sure sounds yummy.

I loove those shoes ! if I end up getting these cords ( I'd still appreciate more input from ladies here on the fit) I may very well end up getting those shoes too (in bone) if all else fails.

Also, I'd strongly appreciate some more input on the whole red vs. black tunic dilemma. Thank you very much!
