Aquatalias have Arrived - YouLookFab Forum

After trying on Blondo boots and deciding against them in this post,

I decided to bite the bullet and try Aquatalias. I found some on sale at Amazon, and along with an additional 20% off on all boots, brought the cost down to a more comfortable level than the full price. I am pretty sure these are keepers but I am interested in your thoughts.

Pros...
1)I think these hit the sweet spot on my legs...not too high, not too low.
2)Adjustable buckle
3)Moto style riding boot...I think these give some heft to my skinny legs (why do my legs have to be the skinniest part of me???) and balance out my IT frame.
4)Grippy sole...I am a klutz in bad weather

Cons...
1)Stretch panel in the back....not as sleek as all-leather but not as noticeable in black leather, compared to brown, I think. Does anyone know if these panels stretch out? And are they waterproof like the rest of the boot?

FYI I went up a half size and they fit perfectly.

Gorgeous boots on you!

I have a pair of boots with elastic panels in back. I need them, since my calves are fuller, but wide-calf boots aren't snug enough when I wear them with tights.
I love the feature, and find that they give a bit, but not too much, over time. I can wear mine with good fit over skinnies, or just with tights.

You're right that the feature is less noticeable on black, rather than brown boots. Whether I like the look or not depends on how it's done. Mine are in the photo below. I think it works and seems deliberate, but I've seen other panels that make it look like they wanted to save money on leather.

Aquatalia boots are beautifully made, and they give you practical features in a stylish package. The height of these, and the fit around the calf, is good.

These look fantastic on you! The height is just right and they're sleek and versatile. I have a similar pair in cognac and they go with everything. Two thumbs up!

They look terrific, I think. And I am with Greyscale on the elastic panels. They're a useful feature that if done intentionally can look great and work very well in all weather conditions.

I ordered the Blondos for myself but am thinking they aren't really my style. So they're probably going back. Also I thought they were taller than what I wanted; I'd prefer a shorter shaft as the Blondos sort of sliced my legs in half. So I like these a lot better. Are they these?

Aquamarine, these are casual boots, so they will slouch a little. I think what you're also after is a dressy sleek boot. THAT, with a low heel and narrow calf measurement is impossible to find sans the stretch panel, unless you're prepared to fork out $4000. I'm not - but I did fit on a pair at Neimans that fit the bill. But the price was off. Very off

CocoLion, yes those are the boots. They are about an inch shorter in the shaft than the Blondos. I am 5'4" and think this height is about perfect for me. The promo code for 20% off is still working BTW.

Angie, as long as these don't slouch too much, I am thinking they may be a good compromise to a completely sleek boot. It sounds like my perfect boot will cost me WAY more than I can ever spend I will wear these around the house and see how they do. They are certainly very comfortable.

I think these definitely look better than the Blondos. When you're short, that inch in the shaft makes a big difference! Do post an update as to how you feel after you wear them around the house.

Aquamarine - that is so strange -- it SAYS the shaft height of these is 16 inches, which is 2 inches taller than the Blondo stated height. Is that incorrect? (Or did I read wrong)? The Blondos were both too tall and too wide for me. But if these would work, I would order them. (Oh, my...ANOTHER pair of boots, which would bring me to FIVE purchases this year!!!)

I have a different pair of Aquitalias with a stretch panel, Aqua (hah!), and the stretch part is totally waterproof too.

The fit in the ankles and calves is superb! I'm glad they're comfortable. They will be a worthwhile wardrobe investment.

Suz...I measured the boot in the back from the bottom of the heel to the top of the shaft (floor up) and the total height is 16 inches. The back is slightly shorter than the front.

And.....I decided to order another pair in a smaller size. I walked around in these and started to feel that I could actually go down a half size, to my usual size. Not sure why I didn't notice earlier...I think I was just so distracted by the shaft fit! This is what usually happens when I buy shoes...I have to try multiple sizes. My feet are narrow and one foot is longer than the other, so it's rare I get a perfect fit.

So, the boot saga continues.

Thank you, Aquamarine. That is helpful. I think measuring from the bottom of the heel I would be okay with that height. But they only have my size (or what I imagine might be my size) in the suede, so I am going to wait. I think the panels look better with the leather, although I might be wrong about that.

Thank you for the information Aquamarine. I'm going to order the Aquatalias, but they are sold out of my size, 6.5, in black leather which is my first choice. If this is a size you are going to send back, please PM me ASAP. The black suede is a second choice, in fact I'm not even sure I can live with the suede, it wears out much more than leather. Thanks. Love the Aquatalias on you, AM! I have a pair from a couple of years back and they have served me well (fellow skinny calf girl here).

CocoLion/Denise....no, not my size. I'm sorry. Maybe the 6.5 will come back in stock...I'd keep checking. The suede are pretty too, but I understand your hesitation.

Aquamarine - they look gorgeous on you!! Plus the quality of this brand is wonderful. It's always hard to give up our dream of perfect , but they are really beautiful and I hope you will come to really love them!!

Just an update that the smaller Aquatalia Starry boots arrived, and they are a perfect fit. So, if you are considering this particular boot, for me it ran true to size. Thanks all for your help in this process!
