I was so excited to go pickup my boot order today, but sadly they didn't fit comfortably enough for my bunion (it rules my shoe/boot world)...boo hoo!!!.

#1 I did bring home a pair of the Ecco's. They aren't nearly as fabulous as the Aquatalia's but they seem to fit my calf nicely, but are they too short?

#2 I have a pair of tall Bandolino's that don't fit my calf properly which is only noticible when I wear dresses and skirts which is probably only 2% of the time... I'm showing them with the new Ecco's, the taller boot is the Bandolino...

Your thoughts much appreciated!

Dresses or skirts 2% of the time so pants would be over these? Weather is similar to Vancouver so no heavy wool tights?

I mostly tuck jeans or leggings into my boots, occasionally tights with skirts or dresses, but not often. I'm wondering if I reallly need these if the others will do.....at least until I fall in love again

I actually like the length of the Ecco's a bit better...

I bought those Eccos too because they fit my calves, but they haven't arrived yet. I'll be watching this thread. I'm 5'3" so they may be taller on me. We'll see.
I like the way the Ecco's fit your leg and the strap will allow them to be loosened to wear with jeans tucked.

Joy, The straps are tightened as much as they can be, might even have room for jeans but nice to have the option. We may just be boot twins! Wishing you good luck!

At least on the iPhone screen they both look like they fit well, but are quite similar. In any case I don't think the eccos are too short.

I experienced this kind of misery last winter, when I found some wonderful OTK (but could be folded down) black boots that were just too tight, even after a little stretching.

My reserve pair was eccos, too, but I felt so unexcited when I put them on that in the end I couldn't bear to buy them. I'm glad I held out - suddenly I found a pair that I love (that were also cheaper than my original finds).

So purely on the basis of that, and because your Bandolinos look pretty good to me, I'd say hold out for true love!

Kim-It was all those years clomping around downtown in heels. The backs of my knees tingle just thinking about it....boots are usually pretty comfortable, so I was very disappointed, but, hey, gave me some extra cash to spend on some blouses etc (pictures coming soon!)

Thunalata-you make a good point. I decided to bring them home but I will hang onto hope that something more wonderful will magically appear before I wear them for real.

The Eccos do look nice but they are very similar to your Bandolinos. If the Eccos don't excite you anymore than your Bandolinos then I'd say hold out and wait for something that does. Also to me the gap around your calf on the Bandolinos looks fine especially if you wear them with skirts and dresses so little.

I'm with Rachel and Thunlata. Return the Ecco boots and hold out for a pair of boots you're really going to love and be excited to wear.

Carole - since you mostly wear with jeans, I wonder if you should repost photos with jeans/leggings? The gap on the Bandolinos doesn't look TOO bad, and is probably smaller with jeans, right? That said, the Eccos seem to fit you perfectly. I just ordered those, too, as I have wider calves and am short. So, we all may be boot triplets!

you may want to try this boot:

the price/look is similar to the ecco hobart, it's extremely comfortable, and it's a taller boot that i think might work better for you. you can also adjust the calf with the buckle at the top. just a thought:. good luck!

I really like the way the Ecco boot looks on you. If you wear them with jeans or black pants, it'll be low contrast, so I think the height will be fine. (Darn - now you have me wanting those boots!)

Carole, if I keep the Eccos, I'll have them put a couple more holes in the strap so they can be drawn up a bit tighter. My black Hobart Eccos from last year have been 8 hour shoes. Last year the straps were spaced along the leg. These look more like riding boots and the ankle straps can be adjusted so the ankle fits just right too.
They run big on me and I needed a 37 instead of a 38 (usually wear size 7.5-8 med.) I'm glad they are getting positive comments but you need to get boots that you love. Did you find that your regular size fit?

Hmmmm, I am leaning toward returning them and waiting for the perfect make-your-heart-beat-faster pair, since I think your current ones fit the bill for how you typically wear them.

I think your current one's work fine and you should wait for a new pair that makes your heart sing. Boots last too long to have a pair that only feel "eh" to you.

Both pair are very nice boots but if your heart isn't singing half way through the season it may be crying.
